Guess When!!
I've posted this on the Round Table, if you know the answer from there then don't post here!
This is a direct quote from an employee of NWC. Guess when it was made:
Quote: The 3DO Heroes message board has less tact than the Usenet. If I were a novice looking for information on Heroes, and I read the message board, I would deduce the following, "Heroes of Might and Magic is a buggy product with ugly art, a bad story, terrible scenarios, stupid AI, and unplayable multi-player features." With comments such as these, I honestly wonder if the people posting on the message board are Heroes fans or employees from other companies trying to tear down our product.

See everyone did it!! The quote is about heroes 3. It was made by Greg Fulton at about the time of the Forge fiasco.
My point is to prove something that is as applicable to Heroes games as it is to life... people look at the past with rose coloured glasses. The EXACT same comments are levelled at H4, everyone instantly assumed that they were (same at the RT), as I would have. At the same time everyone uses H3 as an example of what H4 should be like, but they've forgotten that people were complaining about precicely the same things back then.
It's an interesting reminder...

well, if you compare current gamespy activity of H4, which is not even one year old (MP patch), to zone activity of its 4 (!) year old predecessor, it becomes obvious who is wearing rose coloured glasses lol.
The only point the quote proves is that people on message boards do always complain. Like we didn't know that before

Personally I never had a crack at the game itself, just the way it was released, never beta tested, no multiplayer, an inordinate amount of bugs (many many more than heroes3 had), ridiculous data transfer...totally user unfirendly. The game itself is playable ( i cant, dial up connection) but I'll think you would even find that the high ups have had a healthy crack at h4 and the way it was totally destroyed as a marketable tool. Recent interviews I've read include the fact that the guy who did the AI had no real experience in it, it was released 6 months early to meet market demand, heroes on the battlefiled was a mistake, the list goes on and on.
Just one thing, please dont try to compare it with heroes 3. This was an amazing game with amazing replayability, on a far higher plateau than heroes4 could ever be. While heroes 4 is playable, it can never captivate gamers the way heroes 3 did.
