Quote: yes I know it's only a recolored creature, It was only a test to begin with. After i solved the pallette problem. To use it, ifyou want to replace the reg sharpshooters, you need to get some tools. Go to Arsthad's Web page to get those. You'll also need to rename the files before you use them, they need to be named the same as the original Sharpshooter files. I can post the names later if you want.
As for pallatte settings, what graphic program are you using? You need to be able to save and load pallattes. You see, there are 10 system colors that have to come first on the pallatte. This is for transparancy reasons. Then just save as Bitmap, and you should be able to compile them just fine. What version of def maker are you using. If it still doesn't work, or if this is all just too confusing, You can email them to me in a zip file with a text doc explaining the order of pics and where to put breaks.
I'm using paint shop pro 8 and paint for the monsters....and what do you mean by saying firs on the pallette?

What a pallatte does, is arrange the colors in any picture. You can view it using photoshop, you can even edit it. What you want to do is make the first ten colors specific ones (pink, yellow, ect.) Maybe I'll save a screen shot and post it to explain.

It would be great if you do so...

Generally, to be safe, those should be exactly the same colours and in the same possition, though I know that the defmaker's shadow mechanism doesn't use all 'pink' colours to create the shadow (unlike in the original H3 creatures) so there are some colours that don't need to be exactly the same, but you can never be too careful and adding 3 more colours in the palette is not a big effort.

That's right. Some of those colors must remain the same, others you can change or add to, but that would be a good format to follow.

I'd really like to use your creature. Actually, I want to replace one of the Messangers (Water, for example).
Could you please look up the numbers and post each step to replace the graphics?
Finally, what about the shooting? Water Messangers can't shoot, so I'd have to set the creature's ability, right? That's easy, though.

No, it's not - setting the animation of the creature is not a problem, but setting a 'shot' animation (like an arrow) IS and without that you'll get a crash.

Is this the reason of why so many commanders shoot those weird fireballs? I always wanted to see brute, for example, throw his axe instead of firing those mysterious energy balls. Paladins and ogre leaders shoot with bows, after all.

um.... no - the authors just wanted it that way I guess . It is possible to create a custom shot animation (it was done that way with the dracolich), but it just requires some hard-coding to match the shot animation with the correct file name of a creature.

That's good to know. Another thing I've been working on is redoing the Lava and Arctic Sharpshooters shots. Those energy balls coming off a bowstring bug me...
