rewards for tournies
this is a bit of a spin-off of the "new ideas thread"
I have an idea that may boost participation,its been done before.
for instance,a speed deamon tourney,with 1st place having 100pts added to his/her pt total at the END of the season,2nd place 75pts and 3rd 50pts.
something more time consuming,like a 2v2 tourney or clans,maybe multiply those rewards by 1.5 or 2.
also,we have gotten away from addicts/honor awards. guys like bossbo and privet have played a whack of games regardless of rank,and deserve recognition,as do privet (again),splexx,and barry mcintosh types deserve some merit for honorable play.
i realize all this may take a little more work,but we'll get out what we put in 
anything you guys would like to add? any fresh or even old forgotten ideas welcome

well i think the idea of getting bouns ladder points will be more of an incentive to players to take part...i seem to remember suggesting this on more than 1 occasion and just recently in a thread....have also been told that was not the toh way b4 as well lol.
but also, i think u need to offer bouns points for each round or lvl gained or whatever, not just for the final placings, as again, most players will not enter thinking they will not get anywhere in the tourny ! dosent have to b much, just a little to entice them into the sub-tourney. maybe something like a bouns 10 toh ladder points for each sub tourney game won?

i see 3 played in addicts and 2 in natives !!!
or has there been like 20 in each and they not been updated ?

I remember when we used to give out cash prizes for some tournaments. It did make competition even more fierce, but it always went to the same players hehe.

Something like that may be indeed a great idea.
As u said a lot of members don't play in subtourneys because they see some big "guns" listed.
This would also help higher rated players that have to play another player that has like 500 less TOH points. They would normaly just gain 1 point. Then they would gain 11!@
Perhaps some more peeps can comment on this?

I think in general the idea to reward bonus points to a player's main toh ranking for achievement in a sub-tournament is a good one. However this need to be carefully done I feel.
The reason I say this is because the toh ranking system, while far from perfect, is probably the one thing this tournament still offers to players that is superior to what the others do.
The amount of points that are suggested by Tewlligar for achievement in a sub-tourney seems pretty good I think. However, to simply give bonus points to ranks for every game played (win or lose) as has been suggested might not so great. The reason is because then someone can play 100 games or whatever, lose them all, and end up being very high rated in rankings...maybe even as the #1 player lol.
People who play a lot of games deserve to be recognized for their efforts, but not sure that top player is the correct type of recognition.
Anyway, that's my opinion.

I have been doing a little more thinking about clans, and how I plan to set it up and I think I can work this into it. I know in past seasons that getting clan wars finished was a real problem, and I have already addressed that in the rules somewhat by puting bonus tournament points into the pot for games played in a clan war BUT I don't see any reason I can't add some to the individuals ladder points as well. Will have to maul it over a bit more so I don't unbalance anything. I will be posting a seperate thread just about clans in a little while after I do some page reworking and rewriting some keep your eyes peeled, lol.
