Which primary skill?

Attack or defense?

Spell power or knowledge?

That's the question we'll have to answer when we come to school or war,school of magic or arena.

Often we've to make a decision,and which one is it that we choose?

If we choose attack we can often first strike first kill if your attack is high enough.
But a low defense could pull you down when you meet those wandering creatures who could fly across the screen.They will strike first,and you'll lose something,even if you have high attack but low defense.

If you have a superior defence,then when those flyers attack us chances are we won't lose as many creatures as we're supposed to,or maybe no creatures at all against the wandering creatures.

Knowledge is good,but after a while I stop building up on it..when it gets to 20+ or something,I always go for spell power.I don see the need to build up on my knowledge when I've enough to last a battle.

But at the start of the game,do we build up on spell power or knowledge?I generally go for knowledge..if you go for spell power,tell me why,I don think at the start we should go for spell power..I know they're good,they make slow last 1 more round..or shield last 1 more round..It annoys me when I cast slow and then realize my hero only has 1 spell power.The spell lasts one round and that's said.But without knowledge you're nothing with 10 spell points.One lightning bolt and no more spells for you to cast.

I usually try to round off my primary skills. If I have a Barbarian, I'll pick Defense, because he'll get plenty of Attack anyways. If I have a Ranger, I'll go Attack for the same reasons. As for Know. and Sp. Pow. It remains pretty even, depending on the level.

My thoughts (right or wrong)

Most maps, u will get arties that improve all 4 categories, so by the end of the game all should be very good.
To me the question should be which do u want first.

Attack/Defense: In most battles u do, u wont even want the comp creatures attacking any of your stacks.  So if u assume that then attack would be the one.

Spell Power/Knowledge: For the same reason i would chose spell power.  More damage can be done with offensive spells earlier in the game.  But more important, the slow will last an extra round per sp gained, thus keeping the comp creatures away from your shooters.

This to me is not cut and dry either.   Playing a map will give me more of a feel as to what i need.  If ive uncovered certain arties that i know i will have later in the game, then my choice will be affected by that.

Also i dont normally let the compared categories get disproportioned too much.  I wont have attack 10 and defense 1.

I always go for the "monster mode"... What I mean? Look:

if select crack hack well you will have a lot of attack... plus offense... well that is what I mean with the "monster mode"... if you go always for attack you won't need defense , because every hit will gona make cry to the opponent... also if you select tazar you will have a lot of defense plus armored , you don't need attack because every hit over your units... will be a suck attack

and about spell power, this depends... if you have a magic hero go for the spell power, and if you have a might hero go for the knowledge... you just need spell power if you can have a lot of him, if not... just knoledger for mass haste, mass slow, mass curse, mass cure, etc... also for town portal and dimesion door spell, (if  you can have it, you know all things about "the rules")

one thing is sure, the most easy primary skill to have is the knowledge, I mean, you can go to one of that fontain that give you the double spell points, or go to the mana vortex, or just go for inteligent , or misticism, also you have 3 artifact that make you recover you spell points, and if you have all 3 artifact, you will have all your spell points  all the days...(shadow of the, or heroes complete version)...

Well

early one attack is better beacuse it make your shooters hit more. For the late battles, well, it depends,
if my hero has powerfull spells, or is a magic hero, always defend, since i want the battle lastle long, if i'm a  might hero vs a magic hero, always attack.
now between might heroes, if i have more shooters i prefer Attack and if less shooters defense

in hive/conserve/utopia/fast-creature-stack I find the defense very handy since ya often gonna get hit anyway and might save u one creature or give time for a few cure spells eg. 3 hydra with fodder in 60 fly hive.

spellpower cuz in final battle an extra 5 power usually more devastating than extra 50 mana. how many times do u use more than 150 mana in final battle? maybe 20% of the time if that. normally after mass slow and 4 implo's the battle is over.

You'll lose everything if you've no defense.

Spell Power and Attack. Knolwedge is crap you'll get it anyways. And these two skills allow you to defeat most of neutral creatures. Which gives you arts that empower your every skill. For an ex:

Had 2 ArchAngels 23 spell power 17 attack and much less defense (dunno at the moment). I've walked into the portal of Splendor where 30 SAA's awaited for me. I've summoned few, ekhm... few thousands of earth elementals while Saa'as were blinded. None 30 creatures had a chanceo ssurvive this one. My AA stood in a corner next to EE's and where he was completely safe. Thx to my attack and spell power I've got 10 SAA's and grabbed everything on the map. When I challenged my o-position I could made an Angelic Alliance. Now this wouldn't be possible If I would have a Might hero, however attack Is very nice in summoning victories.

Yes midnight but we aren0t ALWAYS playing your templates we know that on your templates have 15 knowledge is a thing of everyday, but on some maps templates, for the final batlle the heroes have stats like 5/6/4/6

If you have slow race, and no exper air magic with haste, go for defence. Else go for attack
