heroes 4 necromancy
ok, in homm4, when my hero gets expert necromancy, it says in the description something like "heroes ressurect a number of skellitons or ghosts after each battle" or whatever.
when its basic and advanced, i get skellitons
when it hits expert, i get ghosts. i dont want ghosts, i want skellitons, is there any way to set it so i get skellitons instead? or something?
thanks

It depends on what level creature you kill.

no
it just depends on how many creatures u kill!
if u don't kill enough enemies to make ghosts,u get skels instead!
and besides, who the hell would want skels instead of ghosts anyway?afterall,200 ghosts is kinda better than 200 skels!

yes you can do that, if you fill up all your slots and leave a slot filled with some skells, you get skells instead of ghosts

Are you sure? I think I did that before but they just give you what you would normally get and ask you to make room for them. And if you don't they are a seperate army. Hmmm....Maybe if you had 8 armies already out and can't leave them out you would get what you want.

Nope.
Even when your slots are full of skeletons, you still raise ghosts. If your army slots are full too (all 8 armies are out), and you refuse to make room for the ghosts, you lose them. No skeletons are offered.

No, you don't
If you do this, the ghosts are just placed in a separate army...
Wops, should've read the entire thread, but what the heck...

There is a misunderstandig of GM necromancy. Most people think all you will raise from GM necromancy will be vampires. Wrong. If you kill armies that are a lot weaker than yours, you will actually raise ghosts instead of vampires, even if you do not have a ghost slot in your main army when it's full.

Not an army that is 'a lot' weaker than you, but an army without sufficent creatures to make you a Vampire...

The main thing is, that if you kill creature stck which total expiereince is lower, then you require to create a vampire, you'll create ghosts or even skeletons...

That doesn't help the original poster, though, because you don't have all that much control over whether nearby stacks have enough XP to give you skeletons, ghosts, or vampires. If you kill a big stack of Lvl 4s, a grandmaster necromancer is going to hand you vampires whether you want them or not.
So, I guess the only answer, if you want to get skeletons and only skeletons for all eternity, is to avoid promoting your necromancer past Advanced Necromancy. Work on the other Death Magic skills instead.

And don't pick up any altars od death magic or librerys of enlightenment... coz there you'll have no controll over what skills you'll get...
But seriously, I'd much rather have Vamps than skellies. And who doesn't?
Skellies are weak and slow.

skeletons are lousy, unlike the previous homm skellies. My opinion is to get gm necromancy asap. Ghosts and vamps are WAY better

Yes those Vamps would crush the skeletons. 1 Vamp could defeat 1,000 skeletons. It would take a while tho. Skeleies suck
True that vampires are much better than skeletons -- but better than 1000, I think not. A single blow from a stack of 1000 would wipe out the vampire. He could play the wait, hit, run strategy -- but I think that skeletons are a bit too fast for that to work completely.
