The biggest factor is the activity of homm4 ToH itself, and for now, I'm holding off any reset or new season. Perhaps if or when we get word of homm5 I will gear a 'release prediction' with the seasons.

Can anyone see the Irony in the picture above? Though 3D0 may have killed NWC, and then died with it, ToH has stood the test of time, and will be here, as long as there are Heroes3 and Heroes4 players to support.

What does it matter if there is a new season?
I really dont see any difference if we keep on playin or it resets, many seemed concerned but does it make any difference?
If ves decides there is one big season, or 10 seasons, what would it change?

that's easy.
a) a lot of people are unhappy with their records (maybe they had a bad start but are now a lot better?). i know that may not be important to you zud, but to many it is.
b) it brings a feel of new beginning, and that is somehow refreshing.
c) most importantly, because it wipes all the records clean and everyone starts at 1000 again, it encourages play between ALL players. the higher ranked players won't be scared to play lower ranked players, since all are at 1000. this is important because of the small size of h4 toh.. if we have lords/emperors only playing other lords/emperors, then it makes the community even smaller.
d) it makes players play again if they want to be where they were before, whether that be emperor, lord, w/e. the sense of accomplishment one gets when he rises through the ranks may just raise activity level.
e) because everyone starts at 1000, the higher ranked players who currently only play a very select few maps because they are scared of losing if they try a new map will now get the opportunity to try new maps. what if we discover a map that people like just as much or more than circle? would that not raise activity level? if those higher ranked players discover a few previously unplayed maps that they like a lot, then of course all the other players will follow suit and play them, and find them to be fun also. that could definitely increase activity.

Couple problems with your statements Camel
1- High ranked players still will not leave there comfort zone when it comes to maps. You honestly think TC_Fear will start playing Lost in Space? H3ll no. He gonna stick to barb rush maps etc.
2- Once all points are reset to 1000, sure the formor emperors would willingly play the newbies and lower ranked, but I doubt you get many of the newbie or lower ranked that would knowingly play them. Seems kinda silly to play Teacher 1 day and if you lose you lose ZERO points and if win you gain 50 points. Then next day play him and if you lose you lose 20 points.
Not trying to sound like a jerk. Just voicing my opinion. I am basing most of my opinion on the first 4 season of H3 TOH. And yes I know this is H4, but the same basic philosphy applys here with the 2 examples I mentioned.

I didnt say there will be no second season; I said I am in no rush to do it right away. For now Caesar is still running, and if I get a grasp of whether homm5 will exist at all, then decide on the course of this tourn.
You guys seem to forget that there are a lot of new players who just started records, who are not part of this one tenth of a dozen people who post here, who have inquired to me by email their concern for resetting at this point.
Homm3 seasons were always approx. 10 months long each; this season has gone over 14 months. But its based on activity levels too, and the Top Ranks are not saturated yet. Take a look at past seasons and you will see what I mean.
But believe me, when I do make the decision, it will be the right one, and not based on one tenth of a dozen people's recommendations.
Oh yes, I just came back from watching the matrix, as much as the purists whine, I enjoyed it.

LOL, just lol, now, suddenly it's about the points, not the pleasure of the game, you're saying that one would play a high ranked (let's say teacher for the sake of this conversation) knowing that if they lose, their points remain the same, but wouldn't if they "risked" 20 points ?
