News from Ubisoft
The breaking news at Celestial Heavens was Ubisoft's answer to the author of Russian largest Heroes site:
Quote: And so it happened that Heroes fans from the well-known Russian site, getting tired of waiting, sent a letter to Ubisoft...
Dear ...,
We, the fans of Heroes of Might and Magic™ series, are writing to you on behalf of the biggest Russian fan-site dedicated to Heroes IV, Heroic Corner. (There are 2500 daily visitors)
We are very concerned with the future of the HoMM series that became somewhat uncertain after the bankruptcy of 3DO.
Knowing that UbiSoft had recently purchased the Heroes of Might and Magic™ brand, we would like to know more about the future of the brand. In particular, we are especially curious about possible development of HoMM 5 that we are anxiously looking forward to.
Also, we compiled a list of desired improvements of gameplay to make a great game more balanced and dynamic. If you are interested in our help, we will be more than glad to send you the listyou’re your examination. Also, we are eager to help you with the game development, if you accept fan advices. For instance, we could conduct surveys or polls on various questions and issues.
In any case, we would greatly appreciate an answer. We are eagerly awaiting any good news about future Heroes games.
With best regards,
Heroes of Might Magic™ fans and
Igor Savenkov aka LaBoule (Developer and founder of the Heroic Corner web site)

And in just 10 days they received a reply.
Hi
I am Ubisoft's producer for Heroes oMM 5. Thanks a lot for your mail
We are still very early in the process of developping this title, however every help is welcome. We are very interested in all the community
contribution to the design of the next instalment in the serie ! It will be Thomas Legrand's core job on this title, to be the point of contact for all such discussions with the fan community. He is assisting me in producing the game.
Feel free to send us (to Thomas and me in cc) any idea and proposal you have. I cant promise we would include it, but it will definitely be
considered
For later stages processes like polls we would also be interested in any help of course.

While there's still no real news from the developers, it's good to know that the feedback from the community is finally welcome.
Now let's start a new thread and make it sticky until they produce a perfect game!
EDIT: Oops! Of course, this thread should be moved to Altar Of Wishes forum. Sorry!

So... wishing, eh? I wish that the heroes would be on the battlefield, but on horses. They just look so pathetic on foot... Also, new units are cool as long as they keep them mythological. No making up units just for the sake of having more.

Oh, the return of town portal would be nice.
Spending months, literally, going from one side of an XL map to the other gets tedius... if it doesn't work for the map just disable it.

We should send them links to all of the best threads in the Altar.
Wouldn't it be really cool if our ideas were actually used in HOMM 5? I would preorder the game.

A member of the Ubisoft's Heroes V developing team has registered and addressed the community at Celestial Heavens forum. It was not more than saying an official "hello", though. However, he did point out that individual e-mails to the developers are next to useless. Needless to say, they prefer keeping an eye on the message boards.
So, do they know about HC? I guess not...
On the other hand, it seems that all it takes is a polite invitation by the moderators.
The sooner the better.

Hi everyone
I am simply touring the community at this time, and I stop by at HC to greet you also
As you get from my mail to Heroes' Corner, at this stage the project is still very open. We all have ideas about what HoMM5 should be, and I'm sure you have even more ! Do not hesitate to share them.
The best way to do it is to act through the major forums, like this one, with people gathering ideas and sending them over (moderators and such). It would much more efficient for everyone, and save space in ubi's mailboxes
If you have more questions, I will pop by here and there, probably not everyday, but enough to answer you.

If you need ideas then I can direct you to the "sticky" Altar index, which collects the best discussions and ideas on each topic.
Most of these discussions are probably on page 20-30 or so, if you try to browse page per page, and you are not likely to find them without the index.
The most recent discussions on page 1-5 is usually not in the index since they're too recent for inclusion. But the index does get an update every few months (and this will be more often if there is an influx of good topics.)

It will be *announced* this time next year, which means it will still be quite a while before it gets released. 2005 at the earliest.
