Arghh....
Finally got around to look at this topic again.
Please. This topic is for BASIC concepts and wishes.
Do not post detailed wishes here, do not post town line-ups here. Do not post spell lists here. Post the BASICS of your wishes here. Nothing else.
I will give all of you time to transfer the very long and detailed wishes to more appropriate topics (where they can be properly discussed), and then I'll clean this thread. This will mean that many of the posts will be deleted as they are off-topic for this thread.

Let me guess the rest of the people on this forum went back and sucked your log to try and delete my brilliant ideas...lol. Who cares. You can so kiss my ass punk!
Who put that tag under my name? Was it Ass-modean?
Addendum note by ThE_HyDrA: No need to be so aggressive. Your proposals were very commendable, however, as Djive said, this is not the topic to post them in. Create a new thread with the ideas amalgamated so they can receive more exposure.

here's a SHORT and BASIC, NOT DETAILED list of wishes for Heroes 5:
1. Animated town screen: I said this before, in another topic (can't remember witch one), it would be nice for a town to have people walking arround, giving the ideea that someone really lives there. When, let 's say, you have many units to recruit, the city will be more crowded. That would be nice
2. Simple grafics, like the H3 style. The TBS players will play the game if it's grafics are not that great (not like FPS players, who toss the game if it does not require 1000000MB RAM)
3. More units than H3 provided
4. More upgrades per creature
5. Balanced spells and a ballanced spell system
6. More towns (again, balance is of the essence)

I liked HOMM IV, and the ideas put into practice in it. I hope that H5 is fairly simular.
There were a couple of things that i wouldn't mind changing. First i think they should bring back the creature upgrade system, because i thought it was well structured, but still keep the system used in H4. It could work that you get the unupgraded creature it much weaker than other equal level creatures, but you look to what it upgrades to, to help you make your decision. I also wouldn't mind seeing a change in regards to spells. I may be wrong, but the Heroes series has used basically the one system. Maybe its time to head in a new direction? I'm not sure what to suggest, but i think there should be some sort of a spell defence. I had this idea of being able to counter spells. What if the game told you the enemy hero was going to use a spell prior to him using it. It could give you the chance to use something to stop, or rebound the spell, even blocking it. Of course if you chose to counter it the enemy would get to counter your counter. This could cause big changes in the way people would go about fighting.
Also just like everyone else, i would like to see more towns, and more variety. Is modern gaming heading into the era where we should get to model our own civilisation, and make it how it pleases us?

It's very hard to say what will make the game better, because even though I for example sees homm 2 expansion to leagues better then any other of the homm games, i do realize that the game does need to develop and evolve in graphic, around etc to keep up with the other games.
But graphic in itself isn't really all that important.
Granted heroes 4 WAS a good looking game, and the graphic was pretty good aswell, but still, it was a pretty boring game.
it had lost the hero game feeling that homm 2 at most of, then lost a bit to homm 3 and was almost gone at homm 4
I'm not really gonna put up a list of suggestions on how to make the next game, what to ad and not to ad, already alot of people that know more about the workings of the games then I do have pretty much covered most of what needs to be done.
And I see you people as more then experienced enough and have made well enough games, not to ruin the game by implementing new, bad things.
what I am worried about though is like with sadly most long runner games is that with all the graphic and animations that you ill forget about the game feeling. the thing that makes people really caught up in the game, what makes people play for hours straight without even realising it.
THAT is the only request I ask you to try and fulfil.
less and less games now a days concentrate enough on this,
one big attempt to gain back this kinda gameplay would prove more worthwhile.
please try

zero consideration
After reading a recent comment by a memeber of the H5 development team I tend to conclude that our posting of wishes, basic or non-basic, is useless. They seem to hear but not to listen. Could you clarify please if the Picachu issue was a joke, or a bad joke?
However, if I were to post a basic wish it would be this one: a request to the guys of the UBI to release from time to time different artworks, or whatever their names are, make polls and listen to the votes, at least, if they don't bother to listen to our remarks. For them it must be a proud jesture to develop the whole game, spit it in our face (stores) and say: if you don't like it, pitty! Bow for the Picachu!

vladpopescu79:
i doubt this kind of polls would make much difference. they could just do it in a forum that approves everything they say. if we assume that they believe in their version of homm themselves, then those with a different opinion than themselves are of course wrong. why should they make the poll in a forum with so many unwise posters?
=========
if it's about making contracts with some company (that ubisoft wants to get into closer relations with) that produces this kind of computer graphics, then i doubt they would even consider making a poll that might cast a shadow on their mutual relations, especially if it might lead to cancelling a contract.
well, actually i don't know more about the situation than that the footman (and maybe some more) pictures were found in some computer graphics producing company's web. so this part of the post is my wild speculation and shouldn't be taken very seriously.

Maps.
3do released a wonderful game, for multiplayer standards, with its problems we all know and been discussed a lot in past. What slips our flame-attention though is the cd maps!
I undersatnd those ppl have to make snowload things and then mapmake too! with campaigns needing much work and care. So..
Why not give the beta editor to proved worthy, mapmakers from the ‘crowd’? I bet most would say ‘im honored’ and spill their guts to make one and without even get a cent paid. Why having the ‘texas landscape’ cd maps, MP maps totally unbalanced for towns, and uneven in routes and bonuses of 2 or more players, when there is such willing and able mapmaking crowd out there?
Ye, some will say ‘pff wise guy’.. Ofcourse, there must be problems in making such skim work, but the prize is so big that problems must be overcome. Ppl buying the new hommx game, wont go ‘aah what great fan maps’ or even ‘aah what great cd maps’ they ll go ‘ aah what great game’! Better cd maps=better game=more sells=higher company prstge=mebe higher ubi stock price too? :-p
H3 had few choices mebe to assign maps to fans, h4 more and h5 even more!
Ask me? Ubisoft has no excuse not to assign maps to proved worthy and willing fan mapmakers.. Ofcourse they wont know the game that early,, but, that will have effect only in gameplay, and still not much is homm5 afterall not homm1.. and on top the maker may have a right to update his map, maybe on a ubisoft map site?
I can name you at least 8 mapmakers of single and MP maps that can do an extraordinary map. All agree on this skim plz raise hands and say haleluljah

I'd like to se the recruitment pattern of HOMM4 stay - that is. You get troops every day, rather than all at the start of the week.
It made you rush to get your dwellings early, so you could get your full weekly complement, and it meant that there would always be a token resistance force if you were taken by surprise.
If you have any more thoughts on this - look for my thread in the main Altar forum discussing it.

The TOH forum is for both Heroes 3 and Heroes 4 so there are long time veterans of both games that post there. These 2 groups have lots of lively discussion and banter back and forth about which game is better, and about what aspects from which game should be in H5. However, the 2 single things that I see BOTH sides agree that is necessary for Heroes 5 is the need for a Random Map Generator, in the first release (possibly with a way to control the random map like the rmg files for Heroes 3). And a good map/campaign editor. By good meaning that it can do a variety of things from simple to complex so that quality maps can be made. Some people like a more simple straight forward map, and some like a more intricate map. I think it's important that the map editor be sufficient to satisfy both camps. I also think it's important that there is a good manual to go with the editor. It may just be that insatiable has one of the best ideas I've heard. When they go to chose beta-testers for the game, they should chose a few seasoned map-makers to beta-test the game and the editor as well. Because, although I see a great deal of debate over graphics/towns/spells/chaining etc., there seems to be a consensus over the need for both random generation and a good map editor so I think these 2 issues will be huge game breakers that will decide whether the game is successful or not. Maybe more so then just about any other issue (except for the necessity of multiplayer in the FIRST release).

Heroes V Wishes
Graphics: It seems to me that if the HOMM games continue along the route that they TRIED to travel before between the almost 2D HOMM3 and the 3D HOMM4, then the next game should have fairly impressive graphics. I'm not particular about this. I do, however, care about the look of some of the characters. For instance, the Minitor just seems like a standing bull with an ax. Now I ask you, wasn't the minitor supposed to be a man with the head of a bull? The King Minitor of HOMM3 had a much better base look that should be implemented in the HOMM4 game. I can't list all of the charachter improvements that I'd like to see... but I think most people think the same thing: some of the creatures of HOMM4 simply need a makeover!
Random Ideas:
- A spell that puts a physical wall on a map? Much like the summon boat spell, what if you could have your character place himself in front of a small gap that leads to his castle and place a wall there? Or maybe gain the ability to erect your own gates like the ones used in HOMM4?
- Give the Necromancer castle the ability to turn captive heroes into vampires or something by killing them off?
- Give the player the ability to renig and tear down a structure that they build in a town. This way if they don't like the fact that they're producing Vampires in stead of Venom spawn (for example) then they can tear down the mansion (collecting some raw materials like wood and ore) and begin building the spawn's pit.
- Have some of the skills actually DO something. For instance, in the life castle you can get the skill Spirituality (I think) which all it accomplishes is allowing you to become a GM Life magic caster... the skill itself does NOTHING. I'd like that to change. And some need to be improved like the ultimately useless "Summoning" skill which ultimately only summons elementals (wich aren't very useful by the time you can get that skill up to par).
- Regardless of your archery skill, I don't think you should be able to fire projectiles without a projectile weapon. I mean, where does that bow suddenly pop out of when you get "Basic Archery" as a skill?
- Please, please, PLEASE put an army layout preview screen! I've tried and tried to understand how to place the units in the army at the castle to get the archers on top of the towers for the archery bouns and I've been confounded every time. It'd be nice to just click a button and get a small picture that shows exactly where every unit will be placed on the battle field BEFORE battle starts and I regret having placed my pesants on top of a tower an my archers uselessly behind the castle walls.
- Is it possible to actually SEE some of the equiped items on the hero when they are in battle? I know that adds a level of difficulty that may be beyond the scope of this game, but it'd be cool.
- What do you think about upgradeable spells? For instance, if you learn Lightning and you use it often enough, it could upgrade to chain lightning? Like, give the spells experiance points depending on use and level of the units it kills? So, instead of having Chain Lightning being a 4th level spell, you could have it be a spell you upgrade to and have a different spell for your 4th level slot. I'm all for a spell called "Gust" or "Tempest" that acts like the displacement spell but moves the entire army that's being faced backwards without any damage done... it'd give one more round of ranged vollies that could be helpful!
- Artifacts that the creatures could use? Like, allow the creature to use a heal potion on itself. Stat increasing artifacts would probably be too much.
- Entrench? What if you knew that you were going to be attacked by an oncoming hero and there was no avoiding it. What if you could put up a small wall similar to a fort where the door breaks down in one hit. I'd suggest, like digging, you could spend an entire day's energy to "entrench" youself and put up a wooden wall, or dirt... or whatever... to try and turn the tables a little. This would add a little bonus for characters that had a large scouting radius because they could see these oncoming heroes and put up their defenses. Maybe it could be a skill all of it's own?
- Bring back the "Remove Obstacle" spell!!
I know that a lot of these ideas are kinda far fetched... but I'm a hard thinking guy who has too much time on his hands and I probably could come up with more. Anyway, please respond back as I'd like to hear what other people think of my ideas.

Yey ... i finally got my first gold star ...
ok ... i wish Heroes V to be real nice ... so Lich King can return .... and because the Heroes of Might & Magic series deserves another good game (except 4 that s**ks) ...
I don't really like Ubi Soft because their games didn't actually rise up to a certain level ... for example ... Rayman ... no comments needed ... or Prince of Persia Sands of Time ... the prince knew karate and could run on walls , the princess could enter every whole ... the gameplay of Ubi Soft Games was heavily affected ...
SO .. i hope they will concentrate a lot of strategic stuff like in Heroes 3 , graphics (not really needed because i do fine with heroes 3) , sound (should be like Heroes Complete or 4) , the intro movie (i don't want to see the Winds Of War intro again !!!! ) and lots , and lots of maps , characters , spells , artifacts , creatures ....

better creatures
one thing i really want to see is better creatures.
in HOMM4 some of the units would have had more of a chance to make the enemy laugh rather then scare them/intimidate them.
THe Phoenix is my favourite creature, and seeing him looking like some dove that narrowly escaped a forest fire wasn'to my liking.
this really lowered my fun-factor.
i agree with alot of people about the behemot, back to the HOMM3 one!
and another thing, if in HOMM5 heroes are going to be playable again, then can somebody pls tell how many hero knights or lords go into battle without a horse.
the hero or at least some of them, should be on a horse.
