The sharpshooter is a great addition to any army. But are hard to find,purchace,and maintaine at times...(maintane?)

Best shooters will be the Enchanters! Go Dracon!
My fav shooters: Storm Elementals and Grand Elves.
Although I started getting fond of Lizard Warriors. Many people haven't quite realized they can do damage in battle that they ignore the lizzards!

Sharpshooters definately my favourite (not necessarily the best, of course). They do snowloads of damage (excuse the french) and is very easy to get if you have gelu (yes, I admit to sometimes modifying the maps a little  )
However, they are also v. easy to loose, especially if you are the attacker in seige combat. For its level (4) it has got to be one of the best dispite its hp difficiency, as a number of sharpshooters can pretty much take on a number of any other level 4 unit, provided that they are split up into smaller stacks.

Hey an old thread of ME!
OFcourse homm4 is in shops now(and in my house aswel)
So here my HOMM4 shooter top5!
1:Cyclops:Their area affects say enough!
2:Evil Eye:Their shot always do something evil
3:Waspwort:Their shot always hold their special ability
4:Ballista:They don't have penalty and also shoot over walls.
5:Elves:really irritating when against them! They shoot twice! Not that much damage! But think about giant groups of them! EEK!
Vemon Spawn and Titans are great aswel!

i've only been playing for 4 months so i may be wrong but...
i don't think sea monsters can shoot. they can devour, which is a tremendous pain in the behind, but i haven't seen them shoot as of yet.

The best shooter in the game are defenitely sharpshooters. I had 30 sharpshooters against 69 minotaur kings and won. 30 sharpshooter does about 560 damage max.

of course, the best ones would be titans because they are the only 7th lev shooters. Though, I'd more likely prefer grand elves, because there are more of them, not as expensive, two shots. Still, they have only 15 hp which complicates things a lot.

Unless the Titans doesn't begin, sharpshooters makes them bite the dust quite in a hurry. There are something that makes sharpshooter do more damage. Normally they should do 8-10 dmg or something, but they do about 25-80, which is a little bit strange.

Sharpshooters are best, but they have a silly animation.
Titans are too expensive, but they are the greatest.

I have to say that the best shooter would be Grand Elves. They are fast , shoot twice, and are pretty cost effective. Also they are a 2nd level creature which means uber production, and as such death to all. Toss a precision on them and watch the opposition become pin cushions.
I like Sharpshooters and enchanters, as well as the all mighty titan, but they are either specialized for a hero/campaign, or cost way to damn much to be effective.

Normaly the best shooters beside the titans are the archmagi.
Sure Grandelves are very good, especially coz of early built and low cost.
But if u compare the stats of them with archmagi, especially the no melee AND no shoot over wall penalty, and the spellcost reduction, u will see that they are the best (dont count sharps and enchanters...).

"Ancient" lol  , like we're a bunch of archeoligists looking at the remains from a long gone time (5 years!).
One on one the titan is of course best, but my favourite shooter is the MASTER GREMLIN, their imporntance for tower during the early stages of the game cannot be underestimated I guess no other army depends so much on a single creature in the first weeks.
