For example, what AB specialty does is reducing AA's defense to 6 (20%), as kwahraps stated correctly.

But this definition has NOTHING to do with the special ability of the Ancient Behemots (80% defense reduction)...
The defense skill of a unit only counts during the ATTACK of another unit, NOT while the retailiation, coz the retaliation is an ATTACK, so here does the ATTACK skill count..

OK...i will try to explain..
There is a formula which helps u to find out what damage a unit will do when attacking another one.
Every unit has itīs own attack skill (Ancient Behemot = 19) and itīs own defense skill (Archangel = 30).
Normaly u add the skills of the heroes to this skills aswell, but we will take heroes with attack skill 0 and a defense skill 0.
We also take heroes which donīt have armorer or offense as secondary skill, to not make it more difficult as it has to be...
Now, how does this formula work?
Archangel has no damage range, it makes always 50 damage.
AA attacks with a skill of 30, while an Ancient Behemot has a defense skill of 19. Now u have to substract the defense skill (of the attacked monster) from the attack skill (of the attacking monster).
This will be 11. If the attacking skill is higher than the opponents defense skill, the attacker gets a bonus on his normal damage, that will be 5% for each point of difference, what will make 55% in this special case (11*5%).
55% of 50 is 27,5, so the Archangel will make 77,5 (50 + 27,5) damage on his ATTACKING strike against the Ancient Behemot.
Now the Ancient Behemot will retaliate.
U can use the same formula. Substract the defense skill of the ATTACKED unit (30, Archangel!!, coz retaliation is only another form of attacking!!) from the attacking skill of the ATTACKING unit (19, Ancient Behemot).
That would make -11...if there wonīt be that damned speciality of that Ancient Behemot...
This speciality says, opponents defense is reduced by 80%.
The defense (skill) of the Archangel is 30. If u reduce it by 80%, it will only be 6 then !!! (80% of 30 = 24!).
If u place this 6 defense in the formula, u will get +13 (19-6) instead of -11 (19-30).
And that is the clue!!
This counts for EVERY ATTACK the Ancient Behemots do (Retaliation as mentioned is a form of ATTACK aswell!)
Hope this made it a bit clearer....
