FF
I played Final Fantasy Crystal C, and I hated it so much.
I then assumed that the rest of the FF games were the same, so I only recently watched other games from FF.
-> Do all final fantasy games have atleast one really lame idea to go with it?

Just bringing this back to remind all FF fans that Final Fantasy XII is due out soon (although I cannot remember for the life of me when the release date is supposed to be).
The word on the street is that the game will take place in Ivallice, the same world as Final Fantasy Tactics but will be presented differently. Apparently giving it a darker look for the non-children FF players.
If you havn't yet be sure to reserve yourself a copy. Note also that Square is releasing a special edition of the game that will only be available to certain stores (EB Games and Gamestop for the U.S.)

It's said, the game will be released during next October (as in 2006). Some video game websites include that date, must've been confirmed.
EDIT: It's October 31st.

Yes, there are alot of elements from FF Tactics are to be expected. Here's a link to a website. It shows the summons of FF12. Some of them are from Tactics.

A special edition? Never heard anything related to that.
Speaking of upcoming FF games, there are also,
Final Fantasy 3 for Nintento DS
Crisis Core : Final Fantasy 7 for PSP
Dirge of Cerberus : Final Fantasy 7 for PS2 (Can't wait for this one!)
Final Fantasy 5-6 Advance for GBA

The classics, people!
Eh, looks like most people got into the series late. Let's see, these are the ones that I've played:
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
I think that's all of them.
Out of those, my favorites were IV, VIII, and X (or maybe I just like even numbers ). The most addictive ones were FFT and FFCC.
Some random thoughts on the later games (since no one has played the classics ).
FFVII
This game had one of the best battle systems in any RPG (not the best, but definitely up there). Pairing materia was so fun! ^_^ Deathblow<->Slash All. I never managed to get the lucky 7 (7777 HP) thing to work though. Chocobo breeding and racing was fun, and the optional bosses were great. You actually need a strategy to beat them. KOTR->Mime->Mime = LAME and can be interrupted. My only problem was the plot and characters. Seriously, all of them need to be beat over the head with a wet noodle. At the Gold Saucer, I ended up with a date with Tifa. As much as I want to see this with other characters next time, I will most likely get Tifa again if I replay the game. I hate Aeris way too much, and I don't know the choices to get Yuffie or Barret.
FFVIII
There is practially no one out there who is neutral about this game. You either love it or hate it. They took a big risk in the drastic change of battle systems. I feel like a lot of people didn't give junctioning a chance and just blew it off as being ineffective and time consuming. This is one of those games that if you know what you're doing, it's incredibly easy, but otherwise, it's incredibly hard. A friend of mine (who is registered but has not posted) had Flare junctioned to his Magic Parameter in the final battle, and since Magic was his strongest stat, he kept casting Flare on Ultimecia, which resulted in lowering his stats after each cast. The bosses in this game were very disappointing. I've beaten Omega before he got off a single attack on me. Arkm is witness to this if you don't believe me. Oh, and of course, Triple Triad! So freaking addictive.
FFIX
I need to replay this sometime. I skipped most of the sidequests because I had to return the game to my friend. I didn't do the chocobo sidequest until either Disc 3 or 4 (when the whole world is covered with the fog). So I never got to see Ozma. :/ I hear he's pretty tough though. One thing I didn't like about IX is that it's too real time for an RPG. The time does not stop for any sort of long animation. If you get doom cast on you and Eiko is finishing up a long summon, then you're as good as dead.
FFX
Tidus was actually a likeable lead character! He's very genuine, doesn't act all tough *cough*Cloud*cough*, and isn't mean to Yuna *cough*Squall*cough*. I enjoyed the plot and it made me cry. It would have been perfect, but they had to go make X-2 and ruin everything. And a random thought, poison was so freaking deadly in this one. So incredibly ridiculous.

I've never played it, but I've spent hours and hours watching my neighbors play Final Fantasy VIII (Is this the one where Odin sometimes comes and WTFpWnZ your enemies, but gets killed very close to the end?)

Yep, that's the one. Odin's attack is instant death, but toward the end, he "dies" and is replaced by Gilgamesh, who has a similar attack plus 3 others.
You should play it sometime. You can rename Rinoa to Iris.
