A Navy Idea
Here's an idea i think is quite interesting.
As i was playing HOMM3 today, i noticed something HOMM4 should've included:
That we should hire Navy captains and in our castles we could hire Navy docks.. And i thought of ships for higher and lower levels, or whatever we can offord.
Bucanner Ship
Naval Ship
Battleship
I got to think of more ships, but also, for the ships cost:
1.Bucanner Ship- 6 Wood, $650
2.Naval Ship-8 Wood, $800
3.Battleship-10 Wood, $2000
And of course there will be certain limits for buying these certain ships.. Maybe:
1.Bucanner Ship- 7 Ships Aloud.
2.Naval Ship- 5 Ships Aloud.
3.Battleship-2 Ships Aloud.
And of course if any sink, you could have the choice of buying more to fill it up.
Well maybe we should have ships that deal with Myth to make it more interesting for more people..
And anyway this will be a very good idea to protect the waters around your land. And in battle with another Navy will be more fun.
What i was thinking there could be a special screen for navy battles.. Like it could be over water, and it could be complete stragedy, and you can shoot cannonballs and the other teams.

But I think they're too expensive for a ship, that you would only use it on water, and since some maps are really more on land than water, this can be a good option.
But how do you make them fight? Like if you have an ordinary boat with no armors or cannons. Also about the creatures, The boat might sink during the battle before those creatures will be set to attack!
Anyway, It's a great idea!

well i was thinking this could be an option for more than 2 castles on a map that are right near water..
and also i was thinking one ship will move at a time, like in a creature battle.. and you can shoot with 5 options on every ship.. each doing different attacks or magic spells..
and also each ship will have alot of armor or health in other words.. like some will have as much as or more/less than an Azure Dragon..
And what i was thinking is that there will be a time limit, and in that time limit you have to spend your time wisely.. or try to attack the opponent as many times as possible.
And Still, i do agree with you about the pricining of my ships. i made a mistake there, and got to fix it... but i hope you all like these ideas and post your responses about what you think, or maybe more ideas Here.. bye for now!

u r right.. and it would be good if the better ones had cannons or towers just like castles have walls and trenches 4 advantages (if u havnt said that already)

The prices should be a little lower. A bucaneer ship should be faster than a battleship.

Advanced naval ships can expand our gameplay, I like that.
Well the Bucaneer ship should be a very fast vessel. Mainly used for scouting purposes. On maps which have lots of water I find it essential to have a vessel with greater sight range.
Haha... it would be very interesting to have a Battleship sink an enemy transport ship. Now I call that very pleasing *grins*

Maybe the size of ship determines how many units (and size of units) can enter the boat, flying creatures would not have to enter the boat. They could also be a one man raft just for hero to go out and explore. Maybe the bigger the boat the more defence could be added to your units as well as the ship having more weapons.

I've thought that before also- why not have different grades of ships? I like shipboard battles myself, it's always interesting with the gang planks and how many fliers you have or not etc. I think maybe Ballista and more expensive ships doing more damage might also be the way to go. Hard to say about bucaneer ships going faster or not. I think it would be cool if there was a storm spell or somethign that Chaos hero could cast on adventure map, say he see's a enemy ship he calls down a storm and the ship is moved randomly a full day travel in one direction. He can only do it while on ship maybe? A Life hero could have dolppins tow the ship for extra speed as a ship spell. Maybe Stronghold ships go faster the more creatures onboard, more to row or something. Academy ships add more defense with armor in battle and perhaps when a hero lands from a ship it will go back out to sea a little ways so another hero can't steal it and wait to be called. I'd love to see some more things like that, cause really in ancinet world which fantasy is based on, ship travel was fastest and most common way to travel long distances.

hmm i made up a few magic spells for the ships:
Bucanner Ship's Magic:
1.Whirlpool: 20 Attack to enemy ships. And knocks off 5 creatures in 2 slots. Also makes ememy ship lose ONE turn.
2.High Tide: 25 Attack to enemy ships. Sea Level rises and bashes into enemy's boat's walls.
3.Water Current: Kind of like the spell "Slow". It has no attack but slows and confuses enemy ships.
Naval Ship's Magic:
1.Mermaid's Lightning: 25 Attack to enemy ships. A fierce Blue lightning Bolt comes from a hole in the ocean and hits the enemy boat of your choice.
2.Huricaranna Tide: 30 Attack to enemy ships. Same thing As HIDE TIDE, but more powerful.
3.Shark Attack: A cloud that appears to look like a shark hits the walls of an enemy ship of your choice. 35 attack.
Battleship:
1.Iceberg: Puts Icebergs in the path of an enemy. Either could block them from attacking or moving.. Or if enemy hits it, it does 50 Damage.
2.Hurricane: Does 60 Damage. And also breaks 1 cannon on each enemy ship. What it does is a big black cloud forms above the enemy ship, and fierce winds come down with lightning bolts on the enemy.
3.Tidal Wave: 2 Of these are aloud, and do 120 damage to 3 enemy ships. You should know what this is so i don't have to explain.
Also, the Fire Weapons aloud of each ship:
Bucanner Ship:
1.Cannons: 3 are aloud on each side of ship. All together 6 cannons. 5 Damage.. Maybe 10 damage???
2.Oil: Speeds the ship and could catch the enemy in it afterwards, Or knock it of track by 2 spaces. No damage.
3.Ice Bolts: Shoots ice bolts at enemy from the Magic Spell Book. 20 Damage.
Naval Ship:
1.Cannons: 5 are aloud on each ship. 10 cannons all together. 5 or 10 Damage.
2.Sandtrap: Raises Sand above the enemy ship of your choice. Loses a turn for that enemy ship.
3.Log Throw: Creature Slots throw a large log at the enemy ship from its ship. The damage matters on how many creatures are on the ship. The more creatures, the more powerful they throw. And the further it goes.
Battleship:
1.Titan Cannons: 6 of these are aloud on each side of the ship. does 30 damage to enemy ships.
2.Merman's Tail Whip: A large teal-scaled fin comes up and whacks the enemy boat of your choice. Does 25 damage.
3.Side Effect: 10 Lava Spikes shoot out at enemy ships out from the Battleships' sidewalls. Kindof like our version of Speed Missiles. Doesn't do too much damage. About 20 Damage all together.

Yeah, ok. let's do navy. And if we can do that, we can do ... well... let's put some lasers into it.
----bleah, i'm sick of CAPS----
the "heroes" universe has it's limits. i mean let's face it, all the creatures are either magic or medieval, but kinda' ancient. there are no firearms involved. the most advanced features in terms of technology are the balista and the catapult.
i'm all for enlarging the game concept and adding new "stuff", but if we put too much in it we spoil this great game.
maybe ships with catapults, or... ships with balistas.... but cannons... it's pushing it a litle too far.
well... at least i think so...

hmm maybe your right.. or are you..
The said PIRATES are going to be in the game, and when the PIRATES ruled the sea, they had cannons as their firearm.
But if you would feel better having a Catapault on the ships, that would probably be better then..

interesting...
it'd be neat if you could combine this idea with the idea someone had in the Altar of Wishes (I think) for a waterbound castle/troops... If the ocean were as interesting as the land, I know I for one wouldn't mind having maps with more water.
Who knows. Maybe the powers that be would think "expansion" with this idea. I'd buy it.

With at least two neutral seafaring types shown in the screenshots (pirates and that giant anglerfish sea monster), I'd say it's a fair bet that sending somebody out in a ship to gather up flotsam, chests, and shipwreck survivors will be a lot less easy.
Remember: there will be neutral heroes (presumably on a ship) and neutral stacks wandering about. I can see it now ..500 bloodthirsty pirates come sailing out of the Fog of War and jump you :-)
Historical note: Pirates have been around a LOT longer than cannons have. The screenshots show a typical 17th/18th century buccaneer, but (as one example), the Romans had several campaigns against pirates. And I can think of no time when pirates "ruled the seas". Most pirates lasted as long as it took somebody's navy to hunt them down. A case might be made for the Barbary Corsairs ruling their seas briefly. The Vikings don't really count, as they weren't doing the classic ship capturing, but rather making smash and grab raids against the land.

Just like Ichon has said, more contrast between ships from different towns would be good.
No firearms pls.
Maybe for haven ships: catapult or balista
For stronghold ships: rock throwing "demi-cyclop" or
"demi-troll" i.e. half cyclop/troll attached to the ships
asylum ships: fire ball thrower ??
academy ships: Storm cloud "emitter": can call lightning bolt to strike enemy ships
necro ships: no ranged attack but..........
necro ship can be in the form of "haunted ship" and when it "destroys" another ship i.e. all creatures on that ship got killed, the enemy ship turns into haunted ship !
Just some thoughts.
