I have an Idea!
Hi!
Monsters, creatures on adventure map in homm3 are like trees. They stand still in same place evry turn. Maybe in homm4 monsters will move on the map? Not evry monster will move, but only these chosen in the map editor. Their moves will be specifed by map autor and they will be short, maybe 3,4 squares. Heroes can move, why monsters can't move? I think this is a good idea.
Second thing : maybe monsters will 'reborn'? When you kill a monster he is gone from the map and after some specifed time in map editor they will reborn in fixed amount. For example : Hovel is guarded by pesants, which stands somwhere before hovel, they're standing on the adventure map. You kill those pesants and then you go to hovel to recruit them (sorry for those pesants, but this is only an example ) After 2 weeks pesants are in the same pleace again, they're guarding they hovel. If you will visit hovel evry week they will not reborn, because you recruted all of them. This is one of my ideas. What do yoy think about that?
I'm from Poland and i can't speak english very well, so sorry for my erros in writing. I hope you know what i have in mind. )

I thought it was a good idea, but it has already been discussed at this forum many times. But I can see that you are new so I dont blame you.
The other idea is new good, and very interesting. It could work if you assign a special monster in the map editor and it must be within a certain square from the monster dwelling to work.

Right, pretty much everything you mentioned will already be in the game. Monsters can move and attack, but only if programmed in the map editor (and I think you can set their range). And they strongly implied that the scripting system will allow you to repopulate the map with monsters or even enemy heroes. There will also be neutral heroes that can run around the map.
So at least your on the same wave length as the creators.

Wait just a sec. Are you peoples saying that in homm4 you could be standing near a pack of ArchAngels and they could attack you? If so, that would not be cool.

ya - i feel the same way...
Here is the THING - you got FOG OF WAR - what is the FOG OF WAR for WANDERING CREATURE? huh? what?
so what happens when wandering creatures get your castle? they start buying armies? or what? cause if this is the case - then whenever i have the chance to capture a far from my capital town i'll give it to wandering creatures - cause i don't want spent money on buying creatures there - let neutral computer buys them.

That's exactly what we're saying. Kinda makes scouting a riskier occupation, doesn't it?
Not to completely ruin your day, but there is also a possibility of some of those neutral armies containing heroes. These neutral heroes don't need a town to survive, but are placed there by the mapmaker. I presume like any hero placed on the map, the abilities and level of this hero can be customized. (So it could be a 1st level grunt, or a powerful Archmage with tons of magical nastiness)
To make matters even worse, there's been speculation that the new script system used in maps might be able to trigger neutral movement based on a player's actions elesewhere. In other words, it may happen that when you take town X, that pack of angels that's been just standing there has its movement radius changed suddenly, and starts to wander.

So wandering monsters can now move and suddenly start moving? I heard about scriptsystem but this is new to me. I hated ambushes in Heroes3 as some mapmakers but them very nasty places without warning. I hope mapmakers won't be using these too much scripts that change map I mean. In singleplay that is OK but in multiplay that can ruin whole game. Neutral heroes too? That is cool. I always wanted to create one or two neutral heroes to wander around when I made maps but you had to place that town somewhere and they would then lose after town is taken in Heroes3. But what happens if neutral creature or hero takes a town? Or can they take a town? How about those creatures that can from the month feature?

I think only creature stacks that belong to a player/computerplayer can move by themselves over the map, so I guess when they conquer a castle, the player owning the creature stack will become the new onwer of this castle. B.T.W. I think you can move this creature stack, as you can move your hero.

Check the Gamespot preview
Sorry, Pleuris, neutral stacks can have a patrol radius set in Heroes4. After all players/computer players have moved, there will be a turn for neutral movement. That means wandering stacks may do exactly that...wander.
Jeff said in the interview that if they think they can win, they'll jump your armies in the field. No word yet on whether they'd actually attack your towns.
In effect, in addition to the players (human or AI) that have towns, there'll be another side (the neutrals) that don't have or need any towns.
