Civ III
I love the game Civilization III.
But its nothing w/out conquests!
Who else plays this game? What are you favourites? What tactic do you find the best?
I love the Mayans from conquests. Their start off unit the Javelin Thrower is so powerful...
But the best IMO is probably Germany. Panzers just give you the biggest edge for most of the game.
I love the conquest modes in that expansion, especially the WWII: Pacific and Shogunate Japan.

I barely played the game, so this will be my one and only post in this thread. I just want to mention that I once destroyed a Leviathan with several Knights. Pretty weak, huh?

I play it on and off now, mostly with Mods such as the Warhammer and Steph's mod. In conquests I'd always go for the Germans, panzers are excellent, England weren't too bad for a while either.

I dont have the conquests, only the original civ3. yesterday, i saw the expansion in a store (really cheap - 3$), but i wasnt sure whether to buy it or its practically the same with the one i have.
so, is it worth anything? shall i sacrifice 3 beers to buy it?

Me too.
Not to mention SMAC (Sid Meier's Alph Centauri).
Civ3 was such a disappointment compared to SMAC...

Another good aspect of Civ3 Conquests is that almost all of the really good mods available for it now are Conquest mods. These can really improve the game and add a lot to it

Technology isn't a prequesite for good games. It's all int the gameplay. Which all Civ games have, but some more than others...

Hey i bought that expansion today, and it looks good at first glance.
the scenarios offered are so different from the normal gameplay, they almost look like a whole new game.
one question though- whats the difference between "conquests" and "civ-contents" (where the scenarios are lited) in the starting menu?

"conquest" are only the 8 (i think) scenarior that Firaxis made, and they range from the early mosopotamia civs, to thw WW2 battles. Civ contest are maps and scenarios made by users and mods.
Oh and BTW my fav civ has to be egypt. Cheap temples, shot anarchy period when changing govs and fast workers is all i need from a civ. Not a bad UU either.

As for me I Enjoyed playing the Incas. I almost always take Expansionist, though the Celts work very good as well. I also like Russia, Sumeria and France.

As it was revived by someone else, I liked Germany, Persia and Babylon most, also England, Carthage and Byzantium. Yeah, with addons the game was waaay better .
But now I play civ 4, from time to time, and I think it's an excelent game .
