Defeating DoW dark crusade on insane

I managed to defeat AI playng with Chaos and I was playng with necrons on all difficulties on Insane difficulty. But I couldnt repeat that playng with another race or against another race asoponent. If any of you did that please tell me how to do it! Are Necrons overpowered?

I haven't played the game on insane, but the Necrons certainly are an overpowered faction.  Doesn't help they took away the morale of Flayed Ones.

Necrons are overpowered, but so were the space marines in the original game, and the Imperial guard in winter assault. I think patches make Necrons a little bit more balanced however. Let's hope that the Dark eldar and/or Sisters of Battle doesn't become overpowered.

Sadly, I think the Dark Eldar will be overpowered unless they find a better way to handle the Soul Powers.  The cool down periods help a little, but when a Dark Eldar player can cast Corrosion and Soulstorm back-to-back, that tends to leave the community screaming "IMBA!"  (I really hate that term by the way.)  Also I find the torture chambers make things even more frustrating because the Dark Eldar have an unlimited amount of souls to draw from.

But for as imbalanced as they appear, I don't see the Dark Eldar being a powerful force in the end game.  I can see the Tau and Necron being especially dangerous to the Dark Eldar in the late game.  Unless a Dark Eldar player can close in on the Tau quickly, their army will be ripped to shreds by the ranged firepower.  As to the Necrons, their durability coupled with Tomb Spyders, Flayed Ones, and the Necron Lords crazy abilities, make them a dangerous opponent to anybody in large numbers.

I think the Dark Eldar will be an excellant early game army that will quickly collapse as the game drags on.

Playing with necrons multiplayer on "quickstart" is insane given you can't run out of Req

I don't play anymore because I used to win 9/10 winter assault matches and then Dark Crusade comes out and I can't win a match so I'm one of those disgruntled veterans that everyone (including me) hates

either way beating it on insane is an achievement.
I beat it with necrons and tau to try them out but I can't remember what difficulties..

Has anyone picked up Soulstorm?  I just beat the Necron campaign last night on hard.  That was nuts.  The necrons have been nerfed a bit to better stablize the game and it makes things tricky.

If you are a fan of the series, I reccomend picking it up.  The stronghold missions are a blast to play, even though they are maddening at times on hard difficulty.  The only major gripe I have about the game is that you lose your main base after you conquer a map and have to rebuild, so no more sprawling base.   While that sucks, they have allowed a player to purchase structures with requisition when you defend a base now.  While not as great as having a fully built up base, any little help you can get when defending is nice, especially for the Necrons.  On hard, the Necrons only start out with 300 power.  That makes things quite difficult.

There are a couple of bugs that I know of.  One involves the Sisters of Battle and provides them with unlimited resources.  That's a major bug and relic is looking into it.  As to the second... I just can't remember what it is off the top of my head.

Wait until you play it on Hard with the Imperial Guard and your only options to move off the planet are taking on a strength 6 territory of the Space Marines or a strength 7 of the Chaos Space Marines.  I can't remember the last time I've been so angry playing a game.  It's pointless.  There is absolutely no way to stop two armies, while trying to hold points for 7 minutes, with only three available honor guards.  Even the forward base power doesn't help.  You can try whittling down their armies and reduce the strength of the territory, but even if you wipe out one of the 2 computer armies, it only drops the territory strength by one.  Even worse, the computer will usually reinforce the base up to an 8 or 9 afterwards.

That's why I don't play campaign on Hard...
Or play Imperial Guard

But to be honest online play is the main reason I bought this game..
That and the fact that I already had the other 3 I figured I might as well complete the collection.

Dawn of War 2 is being made as well... and with no base building which looks like a plus to me Hopefully it will be like a better version of Warhammer Mark of Chaos

Seraphim: Thanks for the tip, but what do you mean by compatability modes? How do you change that?

By compatibility modes, I think he means by right clicking the game shortcut, then going to Compatibility mode and then you do whatever you wanna do with the settings.

Thanks will.
Still not sure what to change... I'll just play it on my desktop.

One thing I noticed with Soulstorm is more limits on troops.
Only 1 whirlwind allowed now... only 2 predators etc.

In DOW it was unlimited everything except relic units, and you could even get 4 Land Raiders

In Winter Assault they limited the Land Raiders to 1 and that's about it I think...

In Dark Crusade, the ones I can remember:
-Posessed Marines (used to get 20/20 of these and no base was safe)
-Terminators (could get 20/20 of these as well)
-Predators
-Whirlwinds

Can't remember the other ones
