....i had Stronghold and Gurnisson. He was Level 11 on week 1 day 4.
I haven't played Jebus for a while. But I seem to remember around lvl 11-12 being maximum level for Jebus start zone if the main cleaned the entire zone by himself. I must be remembering wrong, because even with boots I don't see how you can do that in 4 days.

Yes early on Stronghold are good but after week 4 they are week beacause some of their stacks: goblins - week, wolfrider have low hp, orcs sucks, Orges are fine,Rocks - good unit but again die too easy, cyclops - hard to build them and week 6 lvl in my opinion
I think it partly makes a difference if you are playing multi or single player.

I don't play MP, but from what I've read, the MP people tend to preserve wolves early in the game and hoard them for final fight. Even without double strike, wolves are easily the best first-strike lvl 2 melee unit in the game. In single player, the HP is more important because wolves are easy to lose and you will probably have several main fights in the game. There's a good chance you'd end up replacing them with non-native creatures.

For lvl 4, ogre magi are a great tank. 60 HP, how can you complain about that? The next best lvl 4 is 40 HP. And they have near the best att and damage.

T-birds damage, att, and HP are about average for lvl 5, but their speed and special ability make up for a lot of that. Similar to wolves, they can be hard to preserve for multiple main fights in SP.

Clops are the second best shooter in the game. I love them. But yea, the build requirements suck. I like them so much, I usually build ogre/clops week one if I have the resources after castle build. Then I regret it week 2 when I don't have upgrade resources.

Gurnisson reached level 11 on day 4, coz i fought a horde of iron golems guarding a box with 10.ooo experience points.

And about level 6 unit in stronghold building order. It is true u rarely build cyclops in multiplayer games, especially in first week.
But if u look up the building order of the Castle town, u will see, u could end up without level 2 dwell, level 3 dwell AND level 6 dwell week 1 if u go for angels and Castle. With fortress, most of the time u have to decided between gorgon dwelling and castle. Rampart mostly decides between green dragons and castle....and so on...
ALL dwellings and castle in week 1 isn't possible in any town. But level 7 and castle is an advantage.

Oh yea, didn't think of pan box. I was starting to think you MP people were a lot better than I thought. I always thought fighting golems was risky. They have a bad habit of not going where you want them to.

If you start with lvl2 you can build all creatures and castle in some towns.

I rarely build week 1 clops in SP either.

Since I play SP, my fav towns have nothing to do with how good they are, just which ones I like.

most favorites are dungeon, stronghold and fortress

least favorites are conflux and castle

well, whatever you might think, i've been playing the game since day 1 and i can say that castle is the best - halberdiers are nice, marksmen are the most useful second level unit, griffins are very useful, crusaders with haste cannot be stopped, zealots ..., champions with charg e are immortal, and we don't even have to argue about the great archangels - resurrecting really helps, you know.
but if castle, necropolis and conflux are out of the game, i'd go with fortress.
for me, the only unballanced race that cannot stand up to the others is inferno.

My favorite is a tie between Fortress and Inferno. I also like to play Stronghold and Rampart rather well.

Experienced tourney players, I ask thee.. Is Inferno really compareable to the other towns? Stat-wise they are very very low. I guess their main advantages would be utilizing no retaliation to take out guards that would normally be a problem, as well as demon farming. (Best if you have access to a secondary town or level 1/2 creature generator like dwarves or centauri.)

Hmm, I love playing as castle, I don't think it is just for nOobs.  Also  I love to play as the barbs(when I just want to go pure might).  Dungeon is by far the best to be.  I mean come on...Black Dragons.

I tend to favor Fortress/Rampart. Play it out defensive. Usually pick an Armorer. Try getting past my defense. And about Archangels - aim EVERYTHING on those suckers first. I don't see the Castle army as too much of a threat safe for them. Champions are manageable (but tough), Zealots fail, Crusaders need to be taken from range, Griffins fall under a melee assault, Marskmen need a good flier and Halberdiers...are just too slow.

And having access to Teleport and Chaos Hydras is fun, if you pull that off.

I tend to pick stronghold/fortress in most games.

With stronghold its usually gurnisson+ballista+3 rocs+behemoth on day 2 or 3. I find it the best/fastest way for creeping and early attacks.

With fortress im somewhat unsure am i doing it right. Lack of ballista (and behemoth-strenght creature) at creeping makes the starting party considerably weaker imho. I tend to go out with Wyverns mostly (built on day 1), sometimes acompanied by some other reasonably fast stack.

The one I like most ... Fortress I think. Tower is second. What these two have in common is - they are very specialized.

Impossible mode is what u play vs comp to make it a bit more interesting. There is no need to play on 200% if u play vs human opponents. It just lengthens the game. Comp already plays to its best ability on 130%.
