Heroes 5 MUSTS!!!!
To hang on the timeline, Heroes 5 must do something that other games has: invidual units! 1 unit whit a score over it isnt enough. A large formation of inviduals united under a specific banner will fix it. And, why dont have more deataled unit puchasing? Like what armour they carry and what materilal they are made of (better metal protects better) or exactly how many units you want to recuit. And why dont have sea battles, now when your hero can travel on a ship!

Make the battles fought like in Medieval Total War...that would be great. It would change gameplay some though.

I wouldnt like that.
I didn't like mediaval.
I allways liked the way, battles are done in HoMM. Rather simple, but overviewable and clear. Not too big... I don't think, why a battle system like the one in medieval would be better in any way.

EDIT: Well, the other idea with the equipment isnt that bad - only maybe a bit difficult/expensive if recruiting many units..
Well, to underline my point above:
I think, this (battle system), and some other features, are the things that make HoMM individual. The strategy games "today" are all more or less the same in this aspects, imo.
I allways liked the way, HoMM was different from all this other games. Like, the turn based system - there are, afaik, not many more turn based strategy games. Or, as mentioned, the battle field. Well, it's just that you imo rob HoMM's individuality by changing those things to the "standarts"

I think the stack concept is one of the aspect of Heroes that is unique to the Heroes game.
I don't think they should be changing so they display stacks as individual creatures, because that pretty much defeats the purpose of having the stack to begin with.
There are som cons to having stacks, but animating the stack as one individual (and with a very rich animation set) is actually one of the major pros of having them in my opinion.
It's certainly to be preferred to the alternatives as I can see them:
- Need to continously scroll view to survey battel-field.
OR
- Too small monsters where little/no detail can be seen.
- Fewer monsters because they need need to spend a lot more time on each monster because of this feature.

Well why dont make the Defence/attack and all that stuff a lill more deataled. Like 1 defence point in Heroes 3 wud be 10 or 100 here and a new type of armour gives 6-60 more in defence for cheep money. And of course u can have leather aromur and same function for weapons.
id liked the idea. An whit soldiers i ment 20 units in a infantery square. And the battles may have a little more tactics. Couse now, the guy whit most/best creatures wins.
heh
i mend 10 soldiers per infantery unit

Nope, he needs some skills too..
You should try WoG, itīs an user-made expansion to homm3. Newest version comes with creature experience system which allows you to win big armies with small, experienced ones...

Heroes should stay Heroes. It's one of the essential features of the serries. It may not be subtle, but it's simple and homm games play rather fast.
If you want individual units, I recommend Dominions 2. The game is succesful enough that Dom3 is on the way. You fight with (usually) up to 150 units per side, and each one of them has such statistics as:
Morale, Protection, Attack Skill, Defence Skill, HP, combat and non-combat speed, encumbrance, magic resistance, battle afflictions (like Battle Fright, Lost An Arm, Lost One Eye, Limp, Crippled, Feeble-minded, Cut Tail and more), weapon lenght...
If you like complexity you may like it, but graphics are absolutely home-made. Demo is limited to about 7 nations, 40 turns, and magic research to level4.
