Playing Tower I would start with a wizard, that's what they are good at. Usually I take Aine, make her my secondary and hope some real might hero is showing up. Almost any Overlord or Ranger will be better than these Alchemists

Ok, I have to admit Neela is a very good hero. It might look strange to play a shooter army with a defensive hero, but it plays well. She is a scholar, so one secondary skill is wasted. But Mephalas leadership isn't much better, I think. I tried it out yesterday - an army of titans with Neela works at least as well as with Orrin. In fact I would say it worked better

Not a bad list. I looked rather quickly but for castle you forgot about Caitlin and Sir Mullich. I also think you've put to much importance on the magic casting ability for some of those heroes.
If it's against the AI then all is fine and to be quite frank any hero should suffice as main. Against Human opponents those magic heroes will get scorched by pure might. Do you really want Alagar and the mighty Ice bolt in an end fight?

there is caitlin.. and yes sir mullich is great but I can't choose him to starting hero in random maps
i don't often choose alagar t main hero, but ice bolt can be usefull in the beginning when I can't get magic arrow from mage guild, imo
