Fortress/Witches deserve higher mage guild, Castle/Humans deserves lower

personally i don't think it makes much sense that fortress only goes up to level 3 mage guild when their magic heroes are classified as witches. aren't witches suppost to be sick with magic?

at least castle doesn't have level 5 mage guild, but they do not deserve level 4 either. aren't humans suppost to suck with magic? also, castle is already sick with troops it is kindof unfair to let them have a level 4 guild i think.

i know nothng is going to change and overall i love homm3 complete the way it is, but to me this stuff always seemed a bit silly.

what do you think? peace,--ave

Could have worked that way, but the spell Prayer really fits in with the castle theme and it's too powerful to be lowered to level 3. Would be very weird to have that taken away from them.

It could be given automatically when gaining advanced wisdom with the same chance as the chance to have it in the mage guild. Maybe only to clerics? What do you think?

I think itīs ok like it is.

ALL the mighty towns have lower magic, coz they relay more to might skills than to magic. Stronghold (Offense) and Fortress (Armorer) are really might towns.

Castle is a mixture between might and magic i think, (only few heroes start with offense or armorer, NONE with magic), therefore itīs ok to give it a 4th level and NO 5th level guild.

The way I see it, the options available to both Fortress hero types are reasonable enough, as long as the player makes the right moves. The Beastmaster's got the high Defense and Armorer secondary skill; add a spell book with or without Wisdom and there's a lot of beneficial low-level spells to augment the army even more. The Witch might have less combat stats, but the increased magical skills and the chances of getting the crucial magic schools will help to even out the battle with the usage of the available spells. Then, of course, there's always the chance of learning more high-level spells at another town. Furthermore, finding artifacts can help improve either hero and boost them beyond their usual limits.

I also like the way it is now. When you play fortress, if you could spend time on a level 4 mage guild and you would actually do it, you would die quickly. In that town, you never use witchs anyways, so who cares?
Fortress is simply not a magic town and if you try to play magic with it, you will loose the game. For the fact that they are called "witch", I agree with you and never understood why they where called that. The name should be changed.

For the Castle, I think that level 4 magic is fair. Ever notices you never get really good spells in there? Besides prayer, you usually get counterstrike or something else useless; so it doesn't really matter all that much.

I agree further about the Witch class; there's a lot more advantages that come with the Beastmasters and their toughness. Creatures aside, the Witch is one hero class that will hardly be able to stand up to a Wizard or Warlock in the magic skill department. I haven't tried the Cleric approach very much, though, so I can't really comment about them.

Thank you.

Well, we discussed the Witch class a little bit. What are your thoughts on the effectiveness of Clerics, the Knights' magic counterparts?
