Dunno, but one thing I do know is that this topic has drifted far off topic, and it is primarily my fault.
So, in an attempt to get back on topic (or closer to the topic), can someone give me some examples of 'hardcore' bands? I thought Alexisonfire was hardcore, but now I know they're screamo. Anyone?

Hard core isn't a metal genre, is it? I've always thought of it more as the trash metal equivalent of punk...
As for bands, I only know about some Norwegian hard core bands, namely Amulet and JR Ewing...

There is also the "Terror Genre", which is technoified death metal.

What is the genre of Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Korn and Marylin Manson?
Slipknot's genre has been discussed since day one, some people say New-Metal(i'm one of them) some say Trash, and some say they don't have a genre, or have invented their own.
KoRn is New-Metal.
Rob Zombie is some kind of rock(if someone knows of something else, plz do specify)
Marilyn manson is Rock.

I agree on RD's classification of Slipknot and Korn. Nu-metal is, imo, recognized by how it mixes many kinds of metal, so that could be why some people think it's trash...

I would classify most songs of Rob Zombie as alternative metal, with influences of industrial metal, even if somethimes he gets in a mixture of trash with soft influences of hardcore.

Letīs stop this stupid classification s**t. You will never find a way all of you agree with. Wasnīt this thread for discussing the message behind death metal lyrics or something like that? I know many people (mostly the non-death metal listeners) think that death metal consists only of meaningless satanic shouting, but usually there is a very deep meaning behind the lyrics. And people who complain they canīt catch the words, cause singing is indistinct: just read the lyrics once and you will hear what they say every time after that.

Classification is pointless, imo. But it can still be fun 
As for the meaning of the lyrics of death metal, I mainly listen to Norwegian death metal, so I usually have few problems discerning the lyrics, but they're most likely to be bs; I listen to death metal because of the feelings I experience from the music. Some dm songs has fun lyrics, especially the most satanic ones, but they're not good or anything; just fun...
