Heroes X
Hello all,
My son says that HOMM goes up to ver 10 but I only see up to ver 4 listed anywhere. Can anyone give me a class on how all of this works? His birthday is in 4 days and I want to surprise him and get it for him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Termnator1964

There is Heroes of might and magic up to number 4. However, theres a series of games Might and Magic (the story is related to heroes, but gameplay is completely diff - they are not even strategy) up to maybe 10, i dont know. Never played them.
Still, if you want to get him a nice present, maybe u can buy for him some of the expansions, if u dont have them already.
Theres the Armagedons Blade expansion, and Shadow of Death (both expansions of HoMM 3). And theres also another package sort of like expanions - the Heroes Chronicles, 4 CDs but they are basically only 4 campaigns. Dont buy the chronics if u ask me.

Nine, you noob!
And DO NOT buy the latest one! It sucks big time!
[flame shield]In fact, don't buy other Might and Magic games either - your kid may find them a bit old-fashioned. The gameplay still feels great, but the graphics are out-of-date.[/flame shield]
I found The Chronicles fun but too easy. Nevertheless, I am glad I got to read the final chapters of the great story.
Heroes IV, along with its two expansions (Gathering Storm and Winds of War), is a must have.
There are other great turn-based strategies, which most of Heroes fans seem to enjoy: Disciples 2 or Age of Wonders:Shadow Magic, for example.
Whatever you decide to do, do NOT buy other Might and Magic rip-offs such as Legends, Crusaders, Quest etc.

Might and Magic 6-8 are great RPG's, even if they do have terrible graphics and are somewhat cliche fantasy.
