itsjustme, thanks for the tip; unfortunately, it's no good news: I know some Russian and, as it turns out, there are several separate Forge and Factory projects, which leads us right back to what I said earlier: rivalry equals failure.

I have no computer desining or modding skills myself, but seeing as there are a lot of people here who would like to see the Forge recreated, there must be at least several people among us with such skills. So, couldn't they just form a team and pick up from where BIGJOCKER and Zielevitz left off?

On top of the full town screen and models for every building that were shown on Phelan's portfilio, these two made in-game models for every unit except the Heavy Tank. Also, they did almost all combat animations for these units (see the first 30 pages of this thread). Further, as shown in Set's fake "10th town" trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y5i1O3cJ7A), the world map model for the Forge was also created.

So, what is there to do? Complete the heavy tank, add the remaining combat animations, create the Forge model for siege battles, create Cyborg and Technician models, conjure up some hero portraits and finally, implement the town into the game. As far as that last part is concerned, it shouldn't be a problem- just replace the Necropolis. Why the Necropolis? After Kastore usurped the throne of Deyja from Archibald, Archie and his Necromancers were exiled to Clanker's lab, making the Necropolis a minor and irrelevant faction in the original Armageddon's Blade.

P.S. If you guys haven't already seen starclite's Heavenly Forge tribute on YT, I suggest you take a look at it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asgFsfvU8cM). Unicron's theme from the movie Transformers fits this town perfectly.

Yes, the town will come out in about 1-2 months, but Set's movie to prove you that we are doing skill in about, I think, 5 days.

Indeed, I think we should no longer place any faith in don_komandorr. His building designs were truly marvelous, but let's face it: after over 20 days, what are the chances of him comming back? The Russian team he worked with is now developing factory, so he probably abandoned his solo Forge project and contiued working with them.

By the way, where are BIGJOCKER and Zielevitz? After over a year of working on the this project, they just vanished...

Let's just say that resurecting the old Forge team isn't a very good idea...

I take it that by "the old Forge team" you mean Zielevitz and the others? Well, I'll have to agree that their work was far from perfect, but at least they did *something* for a change. Every other forge team just makes a couple of sketches and then gives up.

It is also unfortunate that GKH modding group fell apart. Before Set disappointed everyone with his false Forge trailer, Haregar posted a video on YouTube, showing that GKH managed to implement fully functional Cyber Dead and Cyber Zombies into the game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-bcZit9Y58&annotation_id=annotation_922754&feature=iv).

Oh my god.... Ivan. you're soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wrong.

In the old times Factory town was called Forge (or Alter-Forge, to be correct) so it's a reason why on Deviantart title of the couple sketches is "forge blah-blah-blah". Than we decided to give it a new name because town concept was far away from original forge. Then I left factory and began making Forge.

And 20 days is not 20 years (you're shocked, are you?) I have exams now, other people in team have exams now so no new staff for you.

maybe later...

Sooo... that's what's been keeping you. I should have guessed, given that I have exams now myself. Well, this is excellent news, but really, you could've posted at least something, just to let us know you haven't dropped out of the project. Anyway, I appologise for my wrong assumption.

While it is good that you've cleared this up, you must understand our skepticism. After seeing whole teams give up so quickly and easily, who could expect one man to do it alone? So are you in this alone, or is your team now working on the Forge as well?

Anyway, I hope to see some of your new designs soon, they're awesome.

Set wasn't alone. AFAIK whole (or most of) GKH planned this. By the way, making 2 units isn't a big deal. Adding new town is.

For all we know, Haregar wasn't part of that plan. Posting a fake trailer after showing actual progress makes no sense at all. According to Haregar's comment on that trailer, Set lied to his whole team.

In the end, none of that matters anymore, since GKH's Forge project is long gone. I said it was a shame, though, as they did make some progress in the beginning of their very short-lived work.

For the reason that I do not have 3d-editor now, I just submit here concept of a citizens houses. In the beginning I planned to make boxes (like one near a runway), but it is so boring!

The box-shaped building is actually part of the Runway, most likely it's control room.

The whole Runway's structure is a little confusing, though: there are two heli or VTOL pads, which would imply that the Juggernauts/Dreadnoughts are either helicopters, or that they have vertical takeoff and landing capabilities; on the other hand, the Runway itself implies that they need an airstrip to takeoff/land.

I assume that the original forge had no house because all the civilians in it lived in the beautiful and luxurious Capital building: just look at the size of that thing, I'm pretty sure it has lots of living space.

Anyway, your concept's great, looking forward to seeing the final design. The only problem is that it's asymmetric, unlike all the other buildings of the Forge, so how do you plan to fit it in?

That was a lie too. A lot of what he said doesn't make any sense or just doesn't match with itself.

About houses - aren't they a little bit too small? I guess it's based on Japanese minimalism, but... I think if they were bigger, they would fit better.

How do you know they're small? We haven't seen the size of their final design that we could compare to that of the other buildings. Small or not, it will be rather difficult to find place for them in the original Forge town screen... and I'm not sure that making a new one is such a good idea.

While don_komandorr's building designs are wonderful, the background he used in those test screens was just too bright, as many people have already said. I suggest sticking to the original dark, gloomy background.

Just look at the size of doors.

That's actually the best idea while you're making town screen in 3D. I know something about it.

That was background only for tests. Look at Cove/Moorage - did you notice how bad first version of town screen background was compared to the new one?

There will be new townscreen with a new buildings placement.
The original FTS is nothing more than a demonstration of 3d models, complex town look. There is no place at all for special structures. There is no place for little houses.

And about background - the original is so empty and boring. Compare it with other towns backgrounds. And it's flat

A CYBERZOMBIE!

No, I'm not going to create all Forge units. Maybe I will animate that one, but nothing more. It was created just for fun.

Yeah, I remember don_komandorr saying something about adding humanoid cyborgs along with the zombie ones, with players being given the option of choosing which ones they would use, but I don't understand how that would work.

As for the units I think 1st to 3rd level ones shouldn't be changed too much, they're originals after all. BIGJOCKER's and Zielevitz's Stinger/Bruiser design was pretty poor; their Jumping Soldier and Tank designs were OK. Finally, although their Juggernaut/Dreadnought design was heavily criticized, I loved it so much that I actually made a LEGO tribute to it. I'd post the picture, but I don't know if it's even possible here...

Anyway, here's the link to their long-abandoned project's unit designs: http://www.zielevitz.republika.pl/strona/units.html

No We will just rename Cyber-zombies with Cyborgs to prevent offense in case of copying necropolis units. After all Cyborg is wider definition than cyber-zombies, like everybody can be cyborg, not only zombies. But necropolis zombies will have 100% survival in "Cyberizer"

Nice stuff, but kinda not H3 proportions
And after all cyborgs should look more like cyber-zombies from original screenshot.

Quote:

They will not be too change. As i sad - We'll rename Cyber-zombies and place Pyromaniacs on lvl1, foot soldiers on lvl2 and Cyborgs on lvl3. They all will be equal to 3 lvl (like elementals in colflux are equal to 4 lvl) so Pyromaniacs and foot soldiers will be best creatures on their level.

Quote:
BIGJOCKER's and Zielevitz's Stinger/Bruiser design was pretty poor;

It will be the same goblin as on the official art.

Quote:
their Jumping Soldier and Tank designs were OK.

This units will be redesigned (but still Light Tank will be nude half female on tank base and Jump Trooper will be mino with jetpack)

Quote:
Finally, although their Juggernaut/Dreadnought design was heavily criticized

We made all-new design for this unit with intresting ability, that was forgotten in h3. It's high possibly that it's name will be "Annihilator" -> "Upg. Annihilator" to make accent on it's ability and artificial nature.
