Quote: the most puzzling example of this is the serpent hive. it costs 5 wood (among other things) to create but why? if u look closly the hive is in a hollow tree so wouldnt u get wood not lose it.
I guess that it's something like that: they have to damage a tree for that hive, and perhaps there is a fortress custom to plant 5 trees for each cutted/damaged one to preserve the swampland.

I think this thread is the coolest in a long time, even if it's just fiction, it's nice to know that all the creatures & heroes have an origin.
By the way, how did Fafner the genie become a Naga specialist, and how did Alkin the gnoll tame the deadly mighty gorgons?
Also a logical explantion why the griffins, and Hydras left the dungeon, when the overlords of Nighon went deeper undergroun, the griffins would be unable to fly high, and the hydras who lived in moistery swamps, could not fit into the cold dark caves under earth.
Also it would be nice to habe stories of each heroes origin, cause frankly the biogrpahys don't tell much.
i must also say it was a nice touch to make Cyra the daughter of Myra from heroes 2, cause the have some silminarities.
Anyway keep this superb thread going!

Alternatively we could go with the truth - Heroes III takes place on a different continent to Heroes I and II.

It's the one of the four precious resource that fits them best.
I think mercury is used n the "raising" process.
