A summary so far ...
Seems that we all need a summary since same questions are being asked.
Quote:
We have a man writing a book and while he is writing the the last chapter, he receives a phone call.
After the phone call is over, he puts down his pen, pulls a cigarette lighter out of his pocket and torches the book.
You need to find out why the man destroys his own book.
Facts we know:
Both persons are scientists. The fact that the writer is a scientist is a key question.
Moreover, the person who called the writer, gave him some new information about the book that lead the writer to burn the book. This one was a key question.
The book the writer was writing contained facts. Another key question.
The scientist that phoned to the writer was aware of the contents of the book as well as he would benefit from the destruction of the book.
There have been some other attempts to find more things about the mystery, but unfortunately none was correct but do not seem relative. The ones that (to my opinion) seem relative are:
The guy who phoned:
1) did not plan to publish a book in the near future.
2) did not dispute the facts contained in the book.
Moreover, if the book of the writer refers to an invention, then his invention is not already made.
Hope these would help us on the continuation of the mystery.

Good work on the recap of information, Dimis!
Was there anything wrong with the way that the book was written (ie. spelling, grammar, structure)?

I think I'm going to have to ask some new types of questions to move this along...
If the "new information", presented over the phone by the scientist's friend, did not dispute the facts contained in the book...then what the hell was this information changing?

This you must find out by discovering what kind of scientist he is.
NO. The writer did not solve anything.
To Leo. No. Not changes in publishing details.

Is he a mathematician?
Btw, I didn't actually ask for an answer on the "solution" of the above problems. I just put there the link to share with people on board the most famous problems of our millenium.

It occurs to me that one of the answers i gave was both correct and misleading at the same time.
The writer did receive new info, but the info did not challenge anything that was allready written in the book.
To Dimis. No he is not a mathematician. I may have to tell you exactly what his role is at some point or you may never get it.
