Anyone Heard About Pele's Son?

I feel for the guy. He's probably the world's greatest soccer player to ever live. And now here is his son arrested on drug and gang charges. I read an article saying that Pele admitted that his son was in a gang and involved with drug trafficking.

It's so sad; it really is. I've seen that guy do things I never thought were possible in soccer. He is truly an amazing man in this world. It's a damn shame about his son. It truly is a shame.

What a sad day in Brazil this must be for the man who has inspired so many people to become better soccer players.

never heard of it.

Though pele was an outstanding football player (too? ) but i rate maradona as better.

When he was at his peak he was like a wizard with the football.

Diego Maradona was indeed a wizard on the football...err..soccer field.  However, correct me if I am wrong, but I thought he had been caught using cocaine during his playing years, which tainted his legacy.  Regadless, he was very popular here in the United States for a while.  I think I used to wear a pair of cleats...err...football shoes with his name on them back in the day.  Wow, that was a long time ago!

When Pelé first saw Robinho play ball, he cried.

Now, he cries because his own son was involved in kidnapping Robinho's mother...

I never liked Madonna... errr I mean Diego

Mind you that's probably because he cheated when he put us out of the World Cup. Hand of god... yeah right.

Seems like all English hate Maradona.

I rate Maradona better then Pele, they were both superstars but Maradona was God of the soccer pitch.. His goals were awesome, magical, in fact everything about his skills were magical. However it is a shame he got fat and started with the drugs.. He could have been a great ambassador for the game...

Its a shame about Pele's son, it seems all famous soccer players are involved in one famous catastrophe or another..

I don't know why Maradonna got voted player of the century over Pele. How can a man whose career was plagued with drugs be more valuable than a player who never even touched the stuff?

pele was better in my opinion

maradona did drugs and was thus not a very good role model. maradona was really on fast and good at slotting the ball home

pele was more of a well rounded player. he could uses his head and was just as good with his feet. he also wa a desent role model and even appeared on the simpsons promoting kitchen wrap

I can see why Maradonna is such a terrible role model, but every sport has their villains. Not only Soccer has Maradonna and his drug problems, but Beckham and his unfaithfulness, as is basketballer Kobe Bryant, former AFL player Wayne Carey, among others.

But nowadays, AFL is being mindful of alcoholism and drink driving. As a result, one AFL club lost it's main sponsor, an anti-drink driving initiative. And now another couple of players are getting axed for consuming alcoholic substances when injured.

i find many austrlian sports have huge problems.

all types of football in australia have problems.

soccer: kewell wont come to play freindlies. the australia media and such just wont leave it alone

rugby: all these male bonding sessions seem to end badly

afl: theres always something bad going down there

and then there is criket with warne just doint everything bad

if u want a role model, its best to look past australia

As you said, I could look beyond Australia for a role model, but as I previously mentioned, Britain has Beckham, America has the San Antonio Kings, South Africa has Hanse Cronje and Argentina had Maradonna.

So the question is, where do we look for a responsible role model for our children?
