Wasn't Vlad the Impaler ('Dracula') the guy who enjoyed sticking people's heads on pikes in front of his castle (or on the battlements, can't remember where) so everyone could see?
In that case, that man kicks ass.

my opinion about Harry Potter
actually, harry potter is very popular these days. the magical things happening in a world, similar to ours [ exactly ours ] look fascinating for fantasy-fiction book readers. no matter why so many youngsters read the book [ i did the same, when I was a bit younger ]. those adventures, those magical incidents all around look so interesting, that the interest in books gets even bigger as you're reading further on... young readers believe the adventures in the books may be real, they want to see themselves as the characters in the books [ or movies ].
three years ago, my opinion was similar to the ones those readers had. I enjoyed reading [ and re-reading ] the books during my leisure time. I felt as if I am a character in this book...
i was obsessed with Potter. i bought everything that is similar to things, described in the books. I liked spending money on things which i thought to be useful, but they didn't even have any worth... i even dreamt harry potter... me being him...
however, i grew out of that age. i do not tell that i now hate it, but i simply do not find it interesting to read everythin once again anymore...
i understand why some people say it is rubbish, but u can't tell other people not to read those books... many of us speak in a negative way about things that others may even worship... that may become annoying...
a_rebirth said he hates potter books, because they seem to be too unreal... our world... some kind of wizarding stuff... it is his own opinion, i cannot ask him not to speak about it. trogdor says he even hates it more...
others [ the creator of this thread, adnama for example ] says that she/he [ dunno who u are ] adores potter... he/she would contradict everything bad they say about the books...
everybody has their own opinions, I s'pose we cannot change them
even tho, i cannot say that i am not interested in the story anymore. i am not the HATER. i would like to see it finally finished and ended. i would like to see how the movie series are going to end. but i am not so obsessed with that anymore, thank god...
so what's my true [ final ] opinion about Potter, you might ask me...
well here's a list of overall ratings of the book. I think i already answered the question, but here is the rating of the book
potter books in my eyes
from 1 - 3
PLOT: 9 out of 10
when i used to read these books, i adored them... the plot was the one i liked... it seemed more like a trilogy back then... all the adventures, all the mysteries were so interesting for me...
LENGTH: 10 out of 10
books were easy to read and not too long, so they weren't boring. at that age, these books looked superb as if my greatest wish was fulfilled.
OVERALL: 9 out of 10
i decided not to post everything in details... [ it wouldn't look as if i am writing this post then ] the plot, the length and that's all... the overall of nine I think is sufficient... more than enough IMO... however, the overall I post is my opinion on those books at the moment, not the way it was earlier [ the plot and the length ratings were the ones from back then ]
books 4 - 5
PLOT: 9 out of 10
I enjoyed reading them [ i was older when i used to read them ], but it wasn't so interesting anymore [ if speaking about the fifth ]... i liked the tournament idea [ goblet of fire ], i liked the adventures, but the fifth part disappointed me a lot. it was too drawn-out... and the adventures weren't so interesting as before, even tho the age of the character exceeded my one
LENGTH: 6 out of 10
as i posted before, i'd rate the fourth part ~9 and the fifth - ~5-6. the fifth was simply too long [ not to mention the length of the sixth part! ] ! i didn't like many parts of that book. it only showed how tired of writing mrs. Rowling is
OVERALL: 8 out of 10
well, i liked those books... they were interesting, but not as much as it was before...
the sixth part:
well, i haven't read [ tho i have it ] the book, but the first 70 pages showed how much interest in Potter i have lost during these years... the first thought was how long the book is, but then i realised that it is not as long as I thought it would be...
so to finish my post, i would say that i now enjoy reading other books, especially LotR style [ which I call fantasy-historical-fiction books ]. books such as THE HOBBIT, LORD OF THE RINGS series, the addition to LotR - RING OF DARKNESS series... [ dunno if those books are published in countries such as USA, UK and some other western ones ]
i also enjoy reading the new ERAGON book series [ started by christopher paolini , an american ], which i think may reach the same level of popularity the Potter has... tho it is more or less for teenagers [ such as me ] rather than youngsters [ the movie of Eragon will soon be made - summer 2006 *yay* ]
P.S. sorry for using caps... i forgot that they're not be used according to the rules *covers his face*
P.P.S. sorry for the length of the post... it isn't so long after all...tho, my thoughts had to be put somewhere

Daniel Radcliffe, the actor in Harry Potter is said to be coming to my school this year or something, in Melbourne.
He'll get payed out so much...
I read that at one of his schools, on the first day he was locked in his locker by some guys and they said "Hey where's your magic now, Harry? Go on, use your wand!"

I'll admit, this wasn't made by me.. but it's damn funny:
Purely in the interests of science, I have replaced the word "wand" with "wang" in the first Harry Potter Book
Let's see the results...
"Why aren't you supposed to do magic?" asked Harry.
"Oh, well -- I was at Hogwarts meself but I -- er -- got expelled, ter tell yeh the truth. In me third year. They snapped me wang in half an' everything
A magic wang... this was what Harry had been really looking forward to.
"Yes, yes. I thought I'd be seeing you soon. Harry Potter." It wasn't a question. "You have your mother's eyes. It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying her first wang. Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wang for charm work."
"Your father, on the other hand, favored a mahogany wang. Eleven inches. "
Harry took the wang. He felt a sudden warmth in his fingers. He raised the wang above his head, brought it swishing down through the dusty air and a stream of red and gold sparks shot from the end like a firework, throwing dancing spots of light on to the walls
"Oh, move over," Hermione snarled. She grabbed Harry's wang, tapped the lock, and whispered, 'Alohomora!"
The troll couldn't feel Harry hanging there, but even a troll will notice if you stick a long bit of wood up its nose, and Harry's wang had still been in his hand when he'd jumped - it had gone straight up one of the troll's nostrils.
He bent down and pulled his wang out of the troll's nose. It was covered in what looked like lumpy gray glue.
He ran onto the field as you fell, waved his wang, and you sort of slowed down before you hit the ground. Then he whirled his wang at the dementors. Shot silver stuff at them.
Ok
I have found, definitive proof, that J.K Rowling is a dirty DIRTY woman, making a fool of us all
"Yes," Harry said, gripping his wang very tightly, and moving into the middle of the deserted classroom. He tried to keep his mind on flying, but something else kept intruding.... Any second now, he might hear his mother again... but he shouldn't think that, or he would hear her again, and he didn't want to... or did he?
Something silver-white, something enormous, erupted from the end of his wang
Then, with a sigh, he raised his wang and prodded the silvery substance with its tip.
'Get - off - me!' Harry gasped. For a few seconds they struggled, Harry pulling at his uncles sausage-like fingers with his left hand, his right maintaining a firm grip on his raised wang.
I hoped this cracked out a few chuckles It sure made me laugh at one time!

She doesn't have to.
She's richer than the queen of England.
The only thing that could make her start writing again would be if all of that money disappeared, which won't happen for a long while.
