Corribus:
I looked up the summary of "The Awakening" on Wikipedia. It sounds like it's as much fun as "Heart of Darkness".

Asheera:
It can't be as bad as Russian literature. Or anything feminist.

Everyone can enjoy belgian literature. Just find 'the sorrow of Belgium' written by Hugo Claus or try the writer, Bart Moeyaert.

I heartily recommend it

Okay, most Russian literature sucks. Ilf and Petrov are okay, as is Bulgakov. But Lev Tolstoy is just blah.

Mvass, you're saying as if old classics are the only Russian literature there is (even though Ilf and Petrov are not that old). Russian literature has great writers in all fields and genres, so I'd rather say that Russian literature mostly owns and some of it suck.

Pushkin and Lermontov are basically proto-emos.

And what kind of Russian literature is there besides the classics?

Ever heard of Russian Fantasy like Perumov? Russian Sci-fi like the Strugatzki brothers? I'm sure there is much more, but those are the two genres I'm more interested in, so I know there's lots of good stuff in them.

I've never heard of Perumov. I've tried reading the Strugatsky brothers, but couldn't really get into them.
