Proverbs
i was gonna put this in "otherside of the monitor" but i know someone was gonna complain, if this gets enough attention than i'd like it moved to the "otherside of the monitor"
Okay this is a simple debating game, every week i give a saying or proverb and we argue over it, whether the meaning of the proverb is true and stuff like that. Its all about a bit of thoughtfulness and what you personal believe.
This week we'll start with a common one:
"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"
well, what do you think the proverb means? do you think the meaning is true?
if this thread of mine gets enough atention then next week we'll do "a stitch in time saves nine"
____________
a stich in time saves nine... what the hell does that mean?
If u enjoy telling ur friends of how uve never been beaten with ur own legs, u'd rethink making a comment

Okay, i'll try to make this thread a bit less spamful
It think the proverb means that you shouldnt be greedy, i think its saying that its just as good to have something than to want more
agree or disagree?

I think it means that when you have something, it is better than you looking at two of the same things, and yet not being able to get those two things.
Like when you are forced to choose, either you can have one ball, or you can see people playing with two balls, which is better? I would rather have 1 ball then see people playing with 2 balls.
Or something like that.
(btw the ball analogy means something else )

This thread is very pointless as to trying to determine what a proverb means because many people will interprut in their own view. Mayb you could use this thread to share your know proverbs with others which will inturn have many people thinking. I must say proverbs are very interesting and i know many that would be nice to share and learn more form others.
Such as:
" I think therefore I am".

the purpose of this thread wasnt to find the meaning of a proverb, more to find what different veiws people have on a proverb, but i didnt expect too many people to participate anyway...

IŽll agree with your explanation.
Better take the small but secure thing than trying to get the bigger one, probably fail and have nothing.
What about the meaning of this?:
"Even the longest way starts with the first step"

i'm not sure but i think it means that the bird sings because it likes too, just like you shouldnt do something for someone else but do it for yourself, cuz you want to. but thats probably just crazy talk

A stitch in time saves nine
A little preventive maintenance can eliminate the need for major repairs later.
Basically, lets say you have a car, if you take about 5 minutes to do some maintenance on it, it saves you from doing like 9 hours of fixing it if it breaks
