What town will you play as the most ! ! !
Personally, I'll be playing the Necropolis. I'm not a satanist or anything. The grasp of Darkness is too strong on me. I just find the undead interesting. Corpses rising from their graves, hosts of spectres wailing in horror yadayadayada.
I bet alot of people will say the haven, just because it has Archangels. Thats my opinion though.

Not to sound wishy-washy here, but .....
I honestly can't give you an answer yet. Things are just too different for me to make up my mind without trying 'em out. And by 'different', I don't mean just the towns.
I'll have to spend a lot of time trying each one out before I decide what I like. One of the things that drove my preferences in Heroes3 was the special abilities of the various heroes. That's all changed. Now, I can, within reason, develop a hero into what I want.
As far as making a decision based on looks and what we know of the creature lineup, I have a slight leaning towards the Preserve. But only very slight.
For me, your question is kind of like asking me to pick my favorite food from a list of stuff I've never tasted yet. And so far, I haven't seen any Brussels Sprouts on the menu, so I'm willing to try anything once.

Like you, my evil colleague, I will start playing the necropolis... it's kind a tradition, specially if my long-life friend Sandro is one of his heroes (what has been said but not officially confirmed). Anyway, I specially like campaigns so I'll play them first and I'll take a look at all the other towns.
A question which comes to my mind right now:
It has been said that every magic school has two "friend" schools and two "opposite" schools, all of them forming a pentagon. Can we extrapolate this fact to towns? (well, it will be an hexagon) I mean, will the necromacers have some true allies this time?
The worst thing about commanding an HOMM3 (or HOMM2) undead army is that you have serious difficulties to add other troops to it (bad morale, death spells hurting your non-undead troops, some mass-spells affecting only part of your armies...). I'll be happy if some allies could be added without those penalties (maybe some of the Asylum or Stronghold troops). At least devils (which I always wanted to have as special guests in my necro army) seems to have moved to the Necropolis...

Since you're asking...
I would play Academy, because my friend Solemyr wants me too! I like playing shooters specially with Titans and Mages! I also like playing good characters because "Good always prevail!". It's how you picture yourself as a HERO, being the nice guy!
I would also play Stronghold, because it would be really challenging for me to fight my opponents hand to hand! And Stronghold would be swarming all over you! Because as said there will be more dwelling withing stronghold town. That only means, one thing. I can have lots of strong armies beside me to fight fearing noone!
At least in my opinion!

Every town has a magic school associated with, so every town has two enemies and two allies. So the allies of the necropolis are the asylum, and the academy.

yeah, we've tended to overlook the Stronghold. Mainly I think because we haven't been given as much information about it as we have the other 5 towns.
As a general note that bears repeating, there really doesn't seem to be the clear line bewtween good and evil anymore in Axeoth. You have the 'star' of the 5 magics, and the Stronghold in the middle. By virtue of the 'star' system, the Academy (usually associated with the Tower in H3) finds itself allied with both Life and Death, and opposing the Asylum and the Preserve (Chaos and Nature).To make it even weirder, the Asylum is allied with the Necropolis and The Preserve (Death and Nature). So the Asylum and the Academy, while of opposing alignments, have a common allied school of magic: Death. I predict the survivors of the cataclysm that destroys Erathia (i.e. we Heroes 3 players) are going to have a lot of strange bedfellows to get used to.
If the Stronghold could keep its head down and its nose clean until the spells stop flying, they could probably clean up. But what real barbarian could resist the chance to grab a piece of the action and glory for themself? So, they're going to get caught in the middle of it all.

I think I'll be playing Asylum since it has my Hydras in it. BUt other towns look cool as well. I mean academy has some magic that looks like it might be fun, like controlling other players units. I think preserve might have some creatures I like, such as the Basilisk, which is one of the fortress creatures though I dont like them as much as Wyverns or Mighty Mooos but at least some swampies may return. Actually, I only heard this in one post so I'm not sure that its true or not. Stronhold might be inteeresting as well, only having might and no magic might be kinda interesting though if u were in homm3 and that were the case u would be screwed. I think I might try to aviod haven jsut becuz that what everyone else will be playing and I dont really play castle now cuz its basically humans which I find kinda boring.

I will also be using the necropolis most of the time, for it has always been my favourite town, and with my favourite hero as sandro, im not satanic either, for i have no religion, i believe that ones fate is what one makes of it, and that certain decisions made in the past can determine what may happen in the future, but anyways, i think that the necropolis is the most unique town, and in h3 I use it very often, and have become an expert with it, and i plan to do the same in h4

I believe that I will play the academy first. I really want to develop that Archmage that will master life, death,& order magics. Using charm to steal your units before battle. Hypnotise to steal them during battle. Ressurrect to bring back my dead units and Necromancy to bring your dead units into my army. That sounds like a good start.

Fortress
I always liked fortress, mostly because the array of creatures in that castle suit my likings.
The one creature i really don't like in that castle are serpent flies. They are extremely weak and boring, i admit that, even as a Fortress lover.
But other than that, Fortress is almost perfect.

In terms of Heroes 4, i think i will go with the Asylum castle, the fourth level creatures sound extremely powerful with my personal favourite creature, the Hydra, and it's old pal, the Black Dragon. This 4th level team, by the looks of things, could be among the most powerful. Apparently the Black Dragon has 1100 hit points. Hydra information has not been released yet.
But i'm not happy about the first level lineup. It would make sense if the Centaur, the Black Dragon, the Hydra, and the Minotaur were all back together, like in Heroes2. I don't think the Centaur should be in Stronghold. But one i do think should be in it is the Orc. I think the programmers should switch the Orc and Centaur. Orc used to be with Stronghold anyway.

Don't really know...
Necropolis is kinda favorite but what I have seen about that town this far it's possible I pick someone else. I think all have chance becoming favorite town and playing most. It doesn't only depend on the creatures but also about the magic because every town has now their own magic. So if I don't like death magic and want to play with magic heroes I don't pick Necropolis. So impossible to say now...

Well, just can't answer this right now. Need time to find out what would be my favorite in h4. Most likely would be Stronghold.
How about change it to another question:
"What town would you play FIRST when you buy h4 ?"
Then I would pick up whatever town I got offered in the first senario of the campaign.

I would surely play stronghold, beacause in the start you get 3 skills instead of 2 and one of them is crucial to have in the beginning of the game. You get tactics then you go for toughness (somwhere in Wywern's thread it said you get 65 Hp when you increase level) and if you strike hard in the beginning of the game with such a hero, the enemy will surely fall (and ofcourse later in the game you take resistance so those puny magicians can not harm you)!!!!
Just imagine the grand master ability in both skills at level 10, while your enemy is probably trying to build a hero with basic or advanced in 2 or 3 dfferent skills

I will probubaly use Asylum. My favorite creature is there, the Black Dragon. It looks cool, and if you haven't seen one of them, just look at my avatar.

hmm ill probabl;y be using chaos magic so i'll stick a little to Asylum, thats chaos isnt it? I'll try to master that one, it seems alot of people will like preserve and necroh so i think I may adverse in a castle that has advantages over preserve.however i do believe ppl are forgetting the stronghold.
