Homm3. The monk in a hooded robe with his hands resting in his sleeves and rope on his waist to keep the robe on - a monk straight out of my book of paradigms. That's how a monk should look like.
In homm4 the hands are out of his sleeves which looks too amm... pushy for a monk
In homm5 he doesn't even look like a monk anymore.

I think you can include in this the druids of heroes 2 are almost the same desing of heroes 4 monks... and about the h4 monk I like it

No no no, the Druid from H1 and H2 will get their own poll, as soon as the official H5 site is updated with Sylvan screens (not concept art).

Homm3 has the only creature that actually looks like a monk but stereotyping isn't always a good thing. homm4 has a crappy colour scheme imo.
However, the homm5 design isnt bad at all since it takes up a new persona, leaning towards a warrior-monk connotation. Its good to see Ubi actually taking the initiative to make something new out of an old design.

i always liked the way h4 monks look. in h3 they looked like supernatural beings with light radiating from their faces. in h4 they are more realistic

I like the upgraded Inquisitor (i think its called that) HV one. So cool, with the incense thing... but I really dislike the unupgraded one. Looks like a homeless man who got caught in a rain of blue dye.

No one can escape from spanish inquisition...
The bad guy wearing a halo and a massive hammer (what a combination ) wins my vote. Despite it does not look like a monk at all I simply like it.

Heroes 3!
Although the Heroes 4 monk's idle animation when in combat is a good imitation of the monks from Monty Python.

Yup I agree, but non-upgrade Monks are realistic too, it's just the upgrade to Zealot needs more than just a change of robe-colours. By the way, you think the radiation is not realistic, but firing a bolt of energy from your bare hands is? The light is just a sign of the increased poer a Zealot has, same with the Inquisitor for H5

Umm, sry if I'm clueless, but I don't remember seeing the red-cloaked monk upg. in homm 3. Was it in an expansion pack?

Nope, it is from the Wake of the Gods, an Mod, not actually an expansion pack (but most think of it as a completely diferent game, and I agree)
About the vote, well, te other monks didn't looked like someone who would actually walk into a battle, that's why I chose the H5 monk. he most appealing fact in H5 to me so far is that most of its creatures actually looks ready for a battle, armed and armored (except the pixies/sprites and, at some degree, the dark elven chicks)

The HOMM V Monk doesn't look like a monk at all. It's better to call it a priest.
I think that even calling it a priest is not right. The not upgraded one, maybe, but the "inquisitor"?! it looks like a total warrior not any type of clergy man. The inquisitor looks buff and has a huge hammer! this is a man of war, not religion. I think it should be called the zealot because it looks like a crazy muscular religious fanatic (maybe a KKK bodybouilder or something like that). It is definitly not a monk.
the real dilema is between HOMM IV Monk and HOMM III Monk. The HOMM III Monk is cool, but for me it is a bit to mysterious, it doesn't look human enough.
The HOMM IV Monk is great. You can see its face and hands (which is good), and thats says "human enough". The only thing I would change is the color of the robe. I think gray is just to boring. I would sugest dark blue or black.

Heroes 3 monks. Their faces are hidden in hood and hands are hidden in sleeves. I think that monks in fantasy game ought to look like that.

They also remind me of the Cultists, Zealots, and Priests from the first Blood game, only without the Tommy Guns.
