YES, but it's a lot of work. You have to create the graphics in the H3 format - a def file; if it is good, some members of the WoG team would surely help you to include it in the game and write the script.
To learn more about creating def files, please search older threads in this forum.
By the way, if you are creating a custom map, you might want to know that you can CHANGE the existing commanders (choose the type, name, bio, stats and skills).

1. Extract ZNPC01.txt from h3bitmap.lod using Resedit. H3bitmap.lod is in Heroes III\Data directory.
2. Edit extracted file and save.
3. Make new .txt file, write in it
h3bitmap.exe @ZNPC01.TXT
del ZNPC01.TXT
(just copy and paste this text)
save file and change its name from x.txt to x.bat
4. Put ZNPC01.txt and x.bat into Heroes III\Data and run x.bat.
You can download Resedit here

off topic:
I've always thought this kind of posts is a real +QP material.
The truth is half of posters here are WoG team members, while the other half couldn't care less for red stars, but no floodprotect when editing is really nice. No floodprotect is even better, believe me. LOL
Don't take these posts for granted just because you are familiar with it; I'm sure newcomers will see them as quick, precise and valuable answers.

Time to make my mind clear.
After realising I wonŽt get HV running properly on my compurer IŽd like to try WOG.
IŽve got H3 complete so no worries there but now which version is the latest and which of all these patches and updates should I download?
If youŽd paste the link to the patches and stuff IŽd be thankfull.
The latest version IŽve found is WoG Version 3.58f (16.11.2004).

Yes, that's correct. You should download WoG from the links on the official WoG site's download page, here: http://wakeofthegods.strategyplanet.gamespy.com/download.shtml
Unless you have a slow connection and need to get it in small parts, it's best to download the allinon1.zip file: http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/strategyplanet/homm/wog/allinon1.zip
Personally, I recommend the above File Planet link instead of the Russian link because the Russian one seems to sometimes have problems or more instances of downloading a file that doesn't end up working (although other times it has worked fine). I know File Planet can be a pain sometimes but if you can get through all their screens, it does seem more reliable and the better choice.
On the download page, below the allinon1 you'll see three optional files. The additional battlefields are only optional because the graphics are big so people with a slow connection might not want to be bothered as this option affects battlefield graphics only.
The ERM Tools are quite handy if you ever wish to edit or write your own ERM scripts but if you're not sure, you could come back and get them later.
And lastly, the full wog video (campaign video) is again just a graphic (video) thing--don't bother if you have a slow connection.
If you want to play online with other people, scroll down to the bottom of the Download page where it says "Multiplayer Troubleshouting" (that should be troubleshooting but it's a typo ) and download the little direct x file there (dpwsockx.zip) and follow the instructions in that section. Some of the scripts don't work properly in multiplayer but that's mostly combat scripts so if you don't enable those, MP games usually go okay.
If you want the latest beta script updates, you can join the wakeofgods Yahoo Group http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/wakeofgods/ and then request the beta script updates. The updates fix some bugs and balance issues and a few other things.
If you've never played WoG before, the best part is playing a standard (or randomly generated) "wogified" map -- that's a map with a whole bunch of WoG options enabled so add new stuff and new features.
There's also the campaigns but these haven't appealed to everyone because their styles are quite different (for some of them anyway)--very puzzle oriented or different in other ways too. On the other hand, some people quite enjoyed them.
Good luck and have fun with WoG!
