Cauldron's Keep - OOC
Ok here's the OOC thread. I have a loose plan for the plot of the story, but I'd rather have it be kept a mystery. So you buggers gotta post to find out what it is.
And please don't post a character description. If you want to have a reference of who everyone's character is, then you can say what your characters name is and what he or she looks like, but keep the stories to yourself, because we can have our characters tell their pasts, instead of the authors doing it in the OOC thread.

This sounds great.
I like the little posts, can still achieve the epic magnitute of other ones like LHW but much quicker and with greater depth when people post little but often.
And the mystery might be the best part. What is Cauldron Keep? Who is Richard, and the ranger?
You have to keep reading, I guess.

Richard is my character. The ranger is Dragon Slayer's character. And I'll assume that TA's character is the old man for now.

could we make a system right now that can be used throughout the whole thread. i mean like what bold, italics and normal fonts are used for.
RSF uses italics for everything but speech, for which he uses normal font. but T-A used the exact opposite in the very next post. but then in his last post used bold for speech
so could we get a system going, i think it will make things easier, especially when reading through 3 or 4 posts at the one time

RSF, is it alright if i join the story later on, mid-adventure, as a rogue who at first attacks, then joins the group?

Okay, I've had a bit of an idea, but I don't want to be the lone madman waiting in the keep, so I won't put it into action unless there are a few interested in being the incumbents within that keep along with myself. We would be a sort of villain's league that not only guard the keep's treasures, but its most intimate secrets as well. Who knows, we could even have some sort of huge plot twist(s) to which the exploration party would have to respond. It would be sort of like a real struggle, with two sides writing against each other and formulating strategy against the other side.
Of course, RSF would have to give the nod.
If anyone thinks they might be interested and have not already joined, please shoot me an HC Message or reply to this post so that I can get an idea of how many we might have. Again, if we can't get enough people or if RSF says no, I'll just join the party and we'll write in some villains as we go along.

Actually that's an interesting idea. I was thinking that for a long time, the keep was thought to be uninhabited, that the people who once created it, were either long deceased or moved off to other lands.
However, it might be cool if my character had success in the past and nearly recovered one of the most valued treasures and it brought attention to the people who now look secretly look after the keep.

I can change to whatever kind of speech you want.
Oh and Shadowcaster was right I was talking about my own character, that mightnt have been clear enough.
I think the villains group could be good.
Maybe they could be other thieves looking for treasure, in competition with the main group? And it could be like a race, anyone seen National Treasure?
That could lead to more relationships other than just fighting because we could have people leaving the other group clues or false clues, traitoring, kidnapping and the like, as we progress through the keep together but opposing at the same time?

I was thinking more along the lines that there are secret Keepers of the Cauldron that no one realizes has been there guarding their treasure for all eternity. Of course, the opposing theif group sounds interesting, perhaps you guys have a mole or two amongst your midst that reports to someone else. Just a thought.

I don't want to make this too complicated. I do like the current ideas that have been thrown out there. However for now I'd like to keep things in one group.
If we do have a group of thieves who are competing against us, then perhaps we could mistakenly meet them inside the keep. But for now I think we should just stay with one group before we complicate things and split everyone up.
I definitely like Shadowcaster's idea of a group of people who are still looking after the keep. The basic idea was that an order of wizards or whoever created the keep hundreds of years ago to safeguard their treasures. (he can come up with who created this keep) They left behind a few people to look after the keep and ensure that the treasures are safe.
This can do a lot of things that I think would be interesting. Say I remember how to get through a certain room and his character changes a very minor detail that nearly kills everyone.
Take for example there is a room with a dragon and I know how to slip past it undetected. Shadowcaster might wake up the dragon and point it in our direction. Just one idea.

You wouldn't mind if say, some of the other character's make up some of these rare, powerful artifacts that they may somehow have heard about before, and just....take them, would you?

The main thing I don't want is to see people just become gods and come up with ways to get past every trap.
But generally speaking I sort of had the notion that when I created the thread, very, very little would be known about the keep at all. Let alone anything about magical artifacts. Rumors about the keep were a dime a dozen and nearly all of them were far from being true. So if you want to share some rumors about the keep, go for it. Maybe later we can decide as a group if they are true or not.
