Leaving TOH - point system BLAHHHHH
I helped many Lords and Emporers reach those lofty heights by posting my losses, admitting my suicides, and finishing many games I knew from early on were lost. I play my saves. I would likely have 50 + more wins if my opponents were the same. I am sick of having players tell me they won't play me TOH because they chance losing too many points, and gain but a few. There are 2 players who i consider true Champions - Rock_Bul and Stuff. Why? Because they play me for TOH no matter what the points. A true "Champion" doesn't cry about the points, but remembers who got them to that place of honor, and who gives them a good fight. So, I am not playing for TOH any longer, and it will take you all much longer to reach Emporer with me gone. HaHaHa  )))) Perhaps there should be a "minimum", say 5-10 points for the point mongers to be satisfied??? Oh well, I'm disgusted with it. Sorry if I'm grouchy, but I miss me regular playing friends.

It is true that there is something illogical.
1) If the high ranked player reached the status where they are now, it is because they won many games against others.
2) So they are supposed to be better and should not fear those who are lower than they are, as the ranking proves that they have much more chance to win the game anyway.
3) If they fear to play lower ranked players. Would this be because their current status does not reflect the reality then ?? Interesting ...
4) By deduction, if they are not stronger players, then the means to reach this status would have been different ? What means ? mmmh this is to wonder.
Moreover if they play low ranked players, theoretically they have all chances to win and to make points easy.
So it is normal that low risk is less rewarded than high risk.
But the problem is not so much the system of points, it is the refusal to play lower ranked. If there was some kind of penalty set up in the TOH site for such refusals like honor rating, or decrease in points it would make a balance ..
Or, another idea. Passed a certain limit, the players should not be allowed to refuse games like it is already the case of one tournament I saw on TOH with shields there ..
the solution : "report of game refused" he he still to add in the site.
Yes this is for this reason I liked WW where even one loss brought gold for the team in Tribes for example..
Why don't you take a look in www.oracleleague.com ??
Actually I don't understand why this site does not develop more, because it is really well done.

ROFLMAOO!!!!!!!!
Boss, what the hell???
I used to get alot of the same crap. For only one of many, many examples just look at some of the posts and emails Druid has made about me, lol.....
Druid did have a good point about my record, tho ......... lots of losses, a lousy score, etc......who in the hell would want to play me.........
Thing is, you're one of the peeps who would know that 80+% of my losses come from unfinished games that I reported a loss on to keep from totally ripping my opp off because I knew we'd never finish the game. Most of the saves I have were made because I asked for them.....
Boss, your name is akin to a flag/standard in ToH. You're one of the very, very few players I've ever received complaints about.
To me, your reputation is worth more than 10x your Rankings Score. (e.g.)--I know (from personal expperience) that if I play Boss I'll get a good and challenging game, regardless of the amount of points I'll get or lose in the end.............
I'm sure there are many others who would say the same.
Zud, for one, comes to mind. He and I were very close friends and I can't think of a better metaphor for HONOR, TRUTH, AND FRIENDSHIP in all of ToH than him. I know from personal talks with him that he had a very high opinion of you.............
Enough.............I'm not gonna kiss yoru ass, lol Let it suffice to say that you're (IMO) one of the good guys
That raises a few questions. To me, all the points in the world couldn't equate with that...
Lemme ask you this (Oh, Luci, you got some splainin' to do.................).......

Yes, what says Lichking there is very true.
If I take the example of how I evaluate or consider a player, and how many I know do as well :
Everybody knows that there is very few relation between the profile, number of wins and losses etc. and the real personnality of a player, his skill or the pleasure we can have to play with him.
That I play with someone who got 8 wins 25 losses or 25 wins 8 losses, changes absolutely nothing about the opinion or the esteem I can have of that player.
Even more, a profile with many losses gives the impression of a more honest player, nothing more. And also an indication of the number of games he made, or how long he plays in zone.
I personnally like to play for TOH, or WW or Oracle, just to play for something, to put an aim on a game helps me to concentrate and make it more seriously or attentively. And I also use my profiles as barometers to see if I improve, what errors I make etc.
I think it is in this way that playing for tournaments can be considered.
But one thing, Liching. There is indeed a very big difference between the reality and the result of what profiles show. And this is something that would be good to improve, though ...
Because if the TOH profiles reflected more accurately the players, it will not be an inconvenience as well :-)))

Heroes 5 - united community
Heroes 5 here we come
Having a great time playing the beta. Daym, all the memories are flooding back
Valky is challenging me, and this time he's bloodlusted and prepared. *hides in the shadows*
I predict that most will switch to h5 when it comes out. The ones that stay behind are either unable to adapt, or just too old. H4'ers stay young and fresh eternally, it's the only reason why we play it ofcourse, so we definitely have the edge!
Looking forward to learn again, to master the unknown, and to meet a renewed community to chat/play with
Ahh memories..!

I couldn't agree more, but for some reason TOH has a penalty for those who DO play lower ranked players????? (i.e. cherry)
Btw, my last 2 opponents had very decent ranks, but they had no problems playing reporting losses, which was quite nice. (I think their TOH names are RAMA THE GREAT and MOW_TIAMATH)

Russ, you'd have to make an active effort to get a cherry.
Rob implemented it to try to deter higher ranked players from amassing killer records at the expense of weaker players (noobs).
Whether or not you're 'awarded' one is determined by the admin and AFAIK nobody is gonna smack a player with one without at least warning that player once or twice that he/she is in danger of getting one.

Theres plenty of fair players out there.
You know that Mike.
All you have to do is ask before you play & if they want to keep the points then just move on to the next player.

There are other options.......other ladders......
Makes me smile to see you only mention ToH, tho
Guys, this is where it is. Period. Granted, both player and admin (meaning me) activity has been on the downslope for quite awhile now. Thing is, though, H3 is ancient and it's time to move on.
One thing I'd like to point out is Ves' new H5 Art thread.
Can anyone honestly tell me that any other fan-based site has done anything more for the game than Rob? You just won't see this kind of dedication from anyone else. Bastards came close, and will always be near and dear to my heart, but when it comes down to it nothing approaches what Ves has done.
E.G.--anyone out there want to chip in and donate funds to build up an account for prize money, games, etc. for a subtournament or promo??? I'd like to, but I can't afford it. E.G. #2--anyone want to donate 70+% of their free time to help keep the machine oiled and running?
Folks, he's done exactly that since he opened ToH. Vets will recall when he decided to abolish popups and ads for the betterment of the site. He lost some income for site support by doing so, but he sucked it up and drove on.
H5 is almost upon us, and I hope it's everything it promises to be. Once it kicks in and we get some new (god willing, dedicated) volunteers it will be no contest. I honestly believe that even UBI, with whatever online ladder they provide, will pale in comparison.
I'm also looking forward to seeing a rebirth in activity from a great many old and dear friends--people who have made it all worthwhile. I could list a few pages of names, but they know who they are. Right, Mr. President
The time is near! Rally the troops, form the lines, and prepare for battle!!!!!!!

Of course Jack Bauer .
I should know just as much how much Rob puts in his baby toh.
I always supported all he did.
I was one of the few who supported him before he left toh heroes 3 & it became a merge but he was fed up.
Thats when players started realising.
Players take alot for granted & expect perfection & way too much from him.
Even if i did try to find an artwork, I doubt it would pass.
For 2 reasons
1 I believe he despises me now & 2 I cant draw worth dirt lol.

Aculias... I'm confused actually, why would I dislike you? Never once do I remember thinking that. So being honest, don't worry about it. About donating to ToH, don't worry about it now, the dental school days when I was struggling to pay for the site is over.
But I must say that ToH is the only longstanding site that's been their since (before) homm3's inception. Its never disappeared, and all the records & history are there from day 1. No other site, even the news sites can claim that.
