Get to know your friendly HC neighbours! :)
This post is inspired by the wise woman of HC, Pandora in this thread right here.
Lets get to know some of the friendly people here, about their hobbies, interests (besides HOMM ), jobs and other intriguing stuff hopefully.
What can I tell about myself hmmm...
I am 22 years old guy from Israel. Just finished long three years in the army, serving in the airforce.
I am a semi-pro basketball player, but I think I could have reached higher places if not the 3 years wasted in the army.
My free time away from basketball I spend singing in kareoke bars and just hanging around with buddies playing PS2 games and listening to punk rock.
2 years ago I installed a program called gamespy and entered the HOMM3 room, and got hoocked since. Over 600 games for sure could be more, who's counting.
Got my first real job for 8 months now and getting slowly promoted each couple of months, lucky me...
Currently no woman in my life (and no man either) as some of you read my valentine's day post  . Too many exgirlfriends hanging around, that is where small towns are getting too crowded.
That about summs it up, kinda boring life but hey I'm pretty satisfied and happy with it. 
So I would like some more people to share some info about their real lives, Pandora is right there are really many newcomers (me included) we should get to know each other first, at least on basic level.

Question: What is life in Isreal like? How do you feel about having to serve in the military, what was that like?
Very nice thread, made me smile (it usually takes a few smiles before teh quality point appears, so keep it up!)

I know what people see in the news about Israels army being so destructive and unmercyfull and it just isn't true, nothing like that to be exact.
Every teenager gets drafted at the age of 18 be it a girl or a boy it doesn't matter. Because I lost my dad 1 year before I was put in a close base to home, (we have bases in the cities, strange) I was released home every single day untill I got promoted to first sergeant and was commited to a week /week service, week at the base and week at home  (that's the nice part).
The officers were just DA BOMB we clicked from the start, we got drunk together on weddings ceremonies, got beaten up at clubs together, overall we were best pals. I could not have asked for better time  , three good but useless overall and looooong ears of my life.
The bummer do not stop there... I still have to do reserve duty once in 4 months and that really bites. To be taken from your life to a secluded training base to back up newly drafted soldiers.... Yawwwwn boring...
Nothing you can do about it though, you refuse you go to jail all know that one.

Actually I wasn't meaning to sound critical at all - I once took a taxi ride with a guy who had also served in Isreal , and I found his perspective very interesting. So much so that we ended up talking in the car for another hour (luckily he stopped charging me )
There is a big difference in the mentality of the youth in our countries. And while I am completely opposed to war, talking to that guy made me think of military and such in a different way - it was cool
And Woock, if you could get a QP for making me laugh on MSN you'd have a million *flashes Woock a peace sign*
But the way it actually works is I keep a mental note of the different HC contributions people make that cause me to feel better about my HC experience - once they have accumulated to teh point where I think "Dayum, that guy rules!" I will then give them a QP

I also think that all women in the world are beautifull and marvelous creatures.
Especially canadian women over 30! They really get me going... LoL!

Yeah, good idea 
For those of you who don't know about me, I'm originally from Russia (Siberia) and moved to New Zealand about 10 years ago. I am 23 now, completed a university degree in management (and a lot of other things including economics, psych, dance and even woman studies ). But even longer than being at university I've been learning Tai Chi Chuan, it is a Chinese martial art that is also very good for health and can be done by people of almost any age/fitness level. By pure luck I joined at a very good school, headed by a real master who moved to live in New Zealand. He can do some amazing stuff, one of his students is a known 9th dan black belt in Taekwon-do (highest rank) and says he couldn't do anything against him in sparring. So it has been real fortune that I didn't just join some class where the teacher picked up movements from videotapes and books, this is the real thing. So I've been learning Tai Chi since 1999 and after being an assistant I started my own classes a year ago. I now have two classes and close to 30 students. Opening two more classes soon.
So you can probably tell I'm very fascinated by it. It's kung fu at its best, good for health and also like a moving meditation. Three in one. Teaching people is also very interesting, to see how their balance, relaxation and concentration improves, etc. So this is my dream job which I've very unexpectedly found, I didn't think there was a job I would love doing before.
Other than that I run AOH and HC (with the great help of their respective teams). Used to work as a shop manager and now taking some time to relax and sort things out around the home (I live alone) and PC. Don't feel like pursuing a career.
I belive in being kind to the planet and animals, so I am vegan and I'm testing emission-reduction devices on my car as well as using an electric bike. I also grow some food in my backyard.
I am single and have pretty much always been as I'm a bit of a perfectionist and live a bit differently. That's a downside at the moment.

Val I think respectfully that if everyone can care about the life in this world will it be animals or trees & such would make it a better place.
I def would not want to get into a fight with you tho .
Pandora you seem a little dif then when i was gone.

Maybe this thread will get everyone to mellow out if we got to know them a little better.

Hi,
I am 32 and live in Queensland, Australia. After school (and dropping out after a year of a science degree) I worked for 10 years in the hospitality industry. This is where I met my husband, my boss (woops), who is a chef.
I worked from everything as a dish-pig at the casino to cooking in a conference centre. The hours and bad wages finally got to me so I went back to uni, and am now a (dare I say it) teacher - Hospitality and Home Ec.
We are currently renovating a house in a small fishing village - they make it look so fun on TV Alot of work and drama in reality. We have 2 dogs who I should walk more often.
I don't mind a game of golf (am not good at it though) and would really love to buy a boat.
I hope you will not hold the teacher thing against me, deep down I will always be a Dishpig - and a damn good one. If you need any tips on potwashing, let me know

We should do some sparring as I have learned Israely "krav maga" (close combat) for 3 years and continued it in the army, plus my father being former russian wrestler pushed me into sambo wrestling for 4 years. I think I can take you out easy...

What memories do you have of Russia?
In New Zealand you don't have to go to the army, you can even work as a part-time soldier! And there's kiwi airforce too, which I think only has a few warplanes.
Wooh, you got 7 years I only got 6, so give me another few years then we see about the easy part In Tai Chi the first few years are to lay the foundation (posture, timing, relaxation, etc), then martial arts applications get introduced at around year 3 or 4. So to be good it takes about 10 years, at least at my pace of learning (several hours per week rather than per day). But then in the second ten years some amazing stuff can be achieved, way beyond the external martial arts. What is krav maga like?

question for the Russians:
How did HOMM get to be so popular in East Europe and Russia. There was a map recently (forgot where) where everybody put a pushpin on a global map. America was a vast wilderness mostly(crickets chirping) while East Europe and the Russias were a solid mass of pushpins. There's WOG, Equilibris, and now Nival. And now I'm on a board talking to two Russian expats. Is this a cultural thing?

Maybe it has to do with the fact that King's Bounty was a big hit in Russia back in the days, so everyone who liked this game has now moved on to the HOMM series. Also, Russians like to think, so we tend to like strategy games in general

Maga means contact, a lot of contact I asure you (not that kind of contact ). And a whole lot of pain to go with that contact in those 3.5 years I broken my arm 2 times my wrist 1 time and sprained my ankle 6 times. But it was all worth it when those jolly drunk club fights happen you are always prepared and well!

Secondary the beautiful chapels, churches, fortresses and castles that I had the luck to see! Thanks to my parents, btw I'm from Leningrad, Sankt - Peterburg nowadays.
And the women the WOMEN!!! LMAO! Too bad I was too young to grab me some girl on the way in a doggy bag.
I'm still planning to go back and go wife hunting there once the season opens.
