Sphinx's Riddles

Remember that building in Heroes II with the riddles? Where you either got a really good prize or eaten?

Well, I noticed a lack of guides for the riddles and their solutions, so I thought I'd start a thread where we would post down the solutions (and their questions of course )

I have one question and answer:

Q: (Note: This is entirely off my head from memory, so I can't be entirely accurate).

I have 10 grains of wheat. I can't give you all of them, so I give you nine-tenths, of eight-nineths, of seven-eights, of six-sevenths, of five-sixths, of four-fifths, of three-fourths, of two thirds, of one half of my grains. How many have I given you?

A: One

Go ahead and post your answers (preferrably with the questions. )

Edit: Clearly, the point of this thread seems to have been misinterpreted. So, this: Only questions the Sphinx has asked. Thank you.

On the map beltway (I think I misspelled; it is the map with three players, with sphinx in the lower right corner) the sphinx says something like:
"What turns everything around but does not move?" answer is 'mirror'

On enroth, the sphinx asks you:
"What goes up and down but never moves?" answer is 'stairs'

Thanks angelito for reviving. I don't like digging through the whole pile of old topics.

I think it's a good thread idea. But it's not that!

there is a question like
what is always before you ,yet you can never see it.
the answer is future
though the question is similar but I dont think they will make 2 questions with the same answer rite?
so the answer might be something other than future

I only managed to solve a few Sphinx riddles in Heroes II.The only one I remember was in an expansion(Price of Loyalty) map ,can't remember the name(I played it two years ago) The riddle was actually more of a question: "Who was King Arthur's mother?".I answered Igraine and I remember I got the Armored Gauntlets of Protection and experience.

Ok, map is "riddle me this..."

I have all the answer I guess :

Q : I must be two and shaped just right ...
A : phoenix

Q : I'm a brook that continues, an old woman or two, ...
A : Babel

Q : More wet than mud. Faster than dirt. I never go "thud" ...
A : Quicksand

Then, I don't have the question, but you'll can figure them with answers :
- Knowledge
- No
- Wizard
- Middle
- Sand
- Wish
- Reflect
- Goodbye
- 42 (the one which getting us the crown)

The only one that I've not, I think it's not a riddle but a trap. It's exactly what the sphinx says : "I have no riddle. I only have rhyme. I serve the dark side. You lose this time !" I simply think that There was a trap between the sphinx and that it's this one, because he never put the question "Who or What or Where am I", and the text just serve us to nothing. So yes, I think it's only a trap : he is what he is saying. (I think I tried all the answer before to arrive at this conclusion)

You can always figure it out for yourself with the map editor, that's an ultimate tool to solve such problems. The answer is "Whoops!".
