they keep resigning when i "overwhelm their bases"
try google searching age of empires 2 patches and after a hard search you will find a patch/mod that will fix that the AI resigns for no reason.

@ Mamgaeater- Hehe, that's kinda funny. If your opponents are about to kill, he dies. If you try to save him, he dies. Usually my strategy doesn't go toward helping me allies. They hold out just fine, but don't keep frontier buildings very long. They put up walls too late too.

normally i try to protect my allies... but in every rts i play one is Doomed to die i'm serious. i play 3v3 and one does on par with me and the other well... gets a 23 minute fedual and resigns when my opponent places 5 long swordsman in his base.

lol that isn't right, well that shouldn't happen.
During all of my games, and I have played quite a lot, that has never really happened to me. My allies usually stay in pretty good shape, and they usually help me out when I am about to destroy an opponent. I do not usually have to defend them, and when I do, I don't, because I usually can handle things on my own

Hmmm...Does it work both ways mamga? If you send the same amount to enemies, do they resign? I usually pelt my enemies with petards, but that's just annoying. I play only the Turks, Koreans,or Mayans, so Its either a band of Janissaries, a band of War Carts, or a band of Plumed Archers. Oh, for Koreans, can't forget the Turtle Ships.

normally when i have around 50 or so units on my enemies base he has only his tc left
and no it does not appear to work both ways. i could have dozens of paladin and they won't resign

Well Broadband speed.
The person who has the faster internet connection should host the game. Also things like background applications and other things like having IE/Firefox open, msn etc would cause the game to load slow.
But I would say 1.5 MB's is a good internet speed to play online. 516 (or whatever it is) is also good. I used to play on dial-up and it wasn't too bad either.

Hey Anti. I would love to join that, but as I can't find my disc at the moment, and my Internet has gone to dial-up speed (resets back to Broadband at the start of February), so it has made it quite hard for me to play it at the moment.
I generally like to play for fun though, and not playing in a Competition style format.
