Poll Question: What town is most likely to appear in the expansions?
What town in your opinion is most likely to appear in the expansion(s) of Heroes V?
(Most likely, not how much you'd like it - there's a thread for that already I think)
I hope I've got the main options.

Please explain your choice! Mine would be the Dwarves. Their appears to be a Dwarf-like creature in the official MM cartoon, plus they have a noticeable absence from the Nature faction. In addition, they're a classic fantasy race, AND they'd go well with snow if it were (hopefully) brought back in an expansion. If I had to choose a second it would be Fortress. No surprises that these two factions are the same as my ICTC entries. A 'new' faction would be good but is not as unlikely as it may seem, since now they've sold the original game with classic factions, they can probably afford to branch out a bit. The least likely - Forge. No one's that stupid are they? Especially now there's no MM series to make Forge fit the universe. (Not that I am fully against a 'light' version of the Forge...)

My choice is the Barbarians (Stronghold).
The Barbarians were here from the start, from HOMM I, from 1995
I think that we have all learned to love, respect and have fun with them, not mentioning the laughs you get from some of their heroes!
IMO the Barbarians are indispendible for HOMM games, it's just a part of the games core
I think that despite the whole new world concept, Nival's decidion not having Barbarians is wrong and stupid.
Barbarians represent a side of the game with their rich history, abilities, creatures, strategies and much more.
That's why I think that the Barbarians should be back ASAP, hopefully, in the expansion pack(s).

Most likely: Stronghold
Most wished for: Forge - not necessarily high-tech, could be more like early industrialization...

I'm not sure how I'd feel about Stronghold coming back. I wonder what racial ability they might get?

As I have stated before, IMO the Stronghold is a must.
About a racial ability, I would suggest a thing that illustrates the Barbarian way of life, their natural strength, resistance and surviving skills. I call it "power of life".
This is a skill unique to Barbarian heroes, and it gives them magic resistance, and a small bonus for all creatures in all fields:
Basic - +1 to attack, defence, speed, min & max damage, +2 to initiative, +1 to morale & luck. 25% magic resistance.
Advanced - +2 to attack, defence, speed, min & max damage, +4 to initiative, +2 to morale & luck, 40% magic resistance.
Expert - +3 to attack, defence, speed, min & max damage, +6 to initiative, +3 to morale & luck, 55% magic resistance.
Ultimate - +4 to attack, defense, speed, +8 to initiative, +4 to morale & luck, 75% magic resistance.
*ultimate will be hard to get, will need plenty of skills for it.
The "power of life" skill is related to physical skills such as offense, defence ect. It has related abilities such as regeneration (in 4 levels: 10, 20, 30, 40 % at the end of each turn), Vengence (works like counterstrike & enrage together with a bonus that grows with level of skill), and natural sturdyness (damage done to creatures is reduced by 1 - 4 according to level of skill, effect before enemy attack, so the reduced value is used in the damage culculation).
That's my suggestion anyway...
About Forge, I think that technology of that kind is out of place in the HOMM world (any of them...), even early industrial. But as seen throughout the game's evolution, we are getting closer to tech.
Mechanical creatures introducet in HOMM IV (Not counting the golems from HOMM II because there was no "mechanical" ability), the whole technology in the tower, including the Gremlin's gun and the Master Gremlin's repair ability. I think that that is enough, as technology will just mess up things, IMO. We have enough balancing broblems now, why add some more with technology?

Hmmm - considering Tech out of place i'll just quote the old Might & Magic or Wizardry games. Sure the extreme high-tech felt a bit strange at first but imo blended quite well with the fantasy background.
Nevertheless - we already have tech and my idea was to just expand the already present aspect. Considering fantasy we always have the gnome as standard tinkerer and tech so i'd make the troops gnome based.
Armaments could range from big blunderbuss-like guns (ranged) to strange automated multi-bladed contraptions (melee) to dragon-tanks (big, lvl 7 creature, see heroes 4)
Special ability would be pretty easy - upgraded siege engines, ie ammo cart, catapult, ballista and first aid tent resulting in higher dmg/better initiative/higher hp or even some special ability like chain shot, scatter shot...
Balancing problems ?? I don't see any more than with any other new faction. You always face problems with game balance when adding anything new.
IMO a forge town like that will add some nice flavour and even an extreme high-tech city would be tempting. I still wonder what we would've seen if 3do had had the guts to pull through with forge in heroes 3. The magic elementals of conflux always seem to remind me of the good old daleks - at least a bit...

Well, about what Kabukiman said, if there will be tech like in warcraft games, like Leonardo DeVinchi tech, like dwarven technology (early gremlin like blunderbus guns, early flying machines for scouting & transport, premitive subs, magicaly powered early engines, ect.), it would be good. But IMO, such extreme tech like the Forge town offers is too much and will just screw things up. Think of it, there is a great difference between mechanical dragons, blunderbus guns ect. and laser rifles, jet packs and guided missles (not projectiles, but real missles).
I think that adding Forge will be to great of a leap and will add a whole another aspect to the game: Technology, and that will mess things up. Maybe if there will be at least 2 games with moderate, early (earcraft like) technology, and only then "Forge like" towns, it may be fine, but adding extreme tech right away is wrong, IMO.
The game is Heroes Of Might And Magic, so if you add tehc it should become Heroes Of Might Magic And Technology, and that just sounds wrong to me.

Will we get more than one in an expansion pack? Two across two expansion packs? Something else? I think one in one is most likely, although two in one or even more would of course be great.

I'd like to see both Stronghold and Fortress but voted Stronghold not because i like them. I voted them because there are no completely might oriented towns. I hope that Stronghold and Fortress will be in expantion.

What?!
I dont know why anyone liked Fortress...and especially Stronghold in H3.
It was a terrible town with bad units. The Behemoth's weren't that strong and mostly any other town won against them. The Rocs were amazing units...very nice, but the only good ones in the town.
Also, the Conflux is a MUST. Elementals are great and I'm definitely missing psych elementals from this game.
A poly-humanoid town would be kind of cool with human-like creatures
IE: dwarfs, centaurs, halflings, harpies, (possibly dread nights), Medusas, and lvl 7 unit could be something new and cool like Valkyrie!!!
Any ideas for possible new creatures???

I'm afraid I'm not a Conflux supporter. The town in H3 just seems to be a quick make in a short amount of time (which it was I suppose). An excuse for a town! Sorry, just my opinion.

I expect the new town will fit with the story they have created, so a Beastmen town is quite likely, as are Orcs. Valkyrie I really like the sound of now Pegasus has left us, although level 7 seems a tiny bit too high really. My worry about a beastmen town is that it will lack a strong tying theme.

Dwarven Town
I think the Dwarven Town would be very obvious, now we have a human, elven and dark elven fraction. It could look like this:
Dwarven Kingdoms
Setting: Mountains
Alignment: (Lawful) Neutral
Units:
1. Halfling (w. sling + luck special ability)
2. Dwarven Worker (w. picks + provides resources on a weekly base)
3. Dwarven Priest (there is currently no level 3 mana units! - no ranged attack)
4. Dwarven Guard/Elite Guard (w. axes + inspire courage)
5. Thunderbirds (?)
6. Dwarven operated catapult (w. greek fire and siege capabilities)
7. Metallic Dragons (Iron - Silver or Silver - Gold or Silver - Platinum - with frost breath)
_____________________________________________
I think the Conflux was a mighty cool town ... I would like to see it again, but I don't think it'll be there. Several reasons:
- The 'layout' desert-arabian thing is now with the academy.
- All the elementals are much more powerfull now, and could not easily be separated into different levels.
- The Phoenix is now kinda different from other creatures.

Conflux' design was GREAT, but the town itself just wasn't.
I'd go with Barbarians and something like Dwarf/Dwarven Mechanics too. Those seem to fit best.
