Must work... No! Must play! ... No! Must make some screenshots for everyone! No! Must work! The pain... I wish this day had 100 hours
Anyway, excuse my drama while I get my priorities sorted and post in this topic about what are your first impressions of Heroes 5! Many people hunger for this knowledge, feed them!

Gr8 Game
I got it on Tuesday. Been playing it the past two days when i have the chance and i'm loving it. Nothing is over powered and the creature abilities, skills and spells are excellent. Also the new creature looks are really good escpecially now it's 3D.

i got the deluxe edition as well, very purty
as for the game, well im only about 4 campaign missions in and it is enjoyable, although there are some bugs
it tries to tell me i have a non original disc (even thou it is most certainly legit) the first time i load, and then works fine the second time
plus splitting stacks causing some freezing, and getting some audio artifacts from the sound fx (not music)
also some very odd ai decisions ....
apart from that it looks amazing, runs great on my 3500+, 1 gig corsair and x850xt, and plays well

It's great, got mine yesterday and I love it...
Played it from 8:30pm till 2:30am straight! Set play as hard to get used to the gameplay before bump up to Heroic...
Am currently on Mission 4 of Campaign 1... trying to build up Hero to max level every stage.
I have had no graphics, sound problems in the game however just some small niggles here & there! (set graphics to the highest settings and have had no issue with performance: AMD 64 3GHZ, 1GB Ram, 256 X800XL)
Great game, the developers really did put some effort into it!
Story line is great only wish that the characters lip synced with the voice... as it is strange that their mouths dont open and sound is coming out from somewhere lol
Signing off

This is just my first impression so I might conclude later that the game lacks something.
I have experienced some slowdowns with all the candy turned on but my computer isn't top notch even though it is high end machine.
The problems this far are the lack of maps and also AI not surprisingly not seems to be too tough.
Simply said it’s fun, easily played and beautiful without forgetting it’s depth and of course it is as addictive as the golden brown.

I agree lack of maps is a biggie. This really limits choices of factions to play etc. I guess the demo said it all. Graphics are good but... I will need to play more before giving another impression. It just doesn't seem quite finished. But I am not bagging the game itself - I looove it and want everyone to play and buy it and not boycot it like H4.
You know alot was said about the presence of women in the game - but I like it/them. I still haven't gotten into a Sylvan faction yet.

I think heroes 5 is great. Really surprized just how well it runs on my computer.
Only negative is the lack of story. Heroes 4 has whole pages of text almost every turn. I think heroes 5 should have lots more cutscenes throughout the campaign.

Considering that this is ver 1.0 I'd say the number of bugs is insanely small. This is the most stable 1.0 I've ever played of any game with the exception of Blizzard games which are excellent as well.
Using the first three Heroes games as a benchmark, you can't help but be extremely pleased with Heroes V. Ubisoft did the smart thing and stuck with what worked in the past for New World Media. The game is very similar to Heroes III in gameplay. I downloaded the bootleg copy of heroes a week ago from the internet and have played the campaigns almost nonstop last week. I've finished all but the last two campaigns. I'll pick up a copy first thing Tuesday when it releases in the USA. It's well worth the buy.
Only has minor performance issues. I run an AMD 2.4ghz with a gig of ram and only noticed lag in HUGE castle sieges. Let's not forgot the obscene memory leak in Heroes III before they fixed it. This is ver 1.0 and they can do tons with patches.
For a ver 1.0 release I give it 5 stars. If Ubisoft is smart, and I think they are, we'll see a random map generator and editor soon, and of course lots of expansions.

The real deal came out in the Philippines yesterday, and I only got the game today. (I was already playing the "downloaded version" for a week and a half though.)
Well what can I say? The Heroes 3 "rmg" didn't come out until the expansion anyway, and I'm not a big fan of the editor (I suck at cartography) so it's not a big loss for me as long as the editor comes out soon so that other people (who don't suck at cartography) can make maps.
It's in the corner of the manual, but there are no allied maps because teams can be set at the start of a multiplayer game. And here I was griping about lack to team play.
Just hours ago, I was playing Duel mode vs my younger sister (who's also a long-time fan). Close matches, but I lost more than I won. Shame on me. Or maybe I shouldn't play Necro in a Duel like I was saying in the other thread...
Repeating what the last guy said, there are minor performance issues... although I get mine when I rotate the camera in a tree-infested area, while all battles play out fine.

After battling through a few technical problems I managed to start the game, just yeterday. I was very interested, since I found Homm4 a huge dissapointment.
I watched through the Intro. Great graphics a nice story starter for teh campaing.
The first thing I realized was the huge lack of maps. That came as a big dissapointment. And the few maps that wre there are preset, so I only found one for Sylvan. A Random map generator, or many more maps are a MUST. I didn't want to jump into a campaing just yet...
The Gameplay is great. It's easy since it uses the fundamentals from HOMM3. The only change is are the three dimensions.
Tha battle is well done, eventhough it uses the "chessboard" style from Homm3 and before. There was some talk that hereos won't be able to participate in combat, so I found the fact that they come in as ranged shooters a pleasant surprise. Another thing is the order of attacks. Not only do I see who goes when, some fast units (sometimes)even get two or more strikes before the slower opposition moves.
Townbuilding could have been better done, since it was a bit confusing at first but, soon I figured it out.Not a problem anymore.
The graphics are excelent, but there is something with the desing. It was mentioned somewhere here before. A bit too Warcraft3-which is a game I personaly hate, partly for it's creature desing. The desing of Homm V was defiantely headed that way, but they have stoped at an acpetable line. Some of the creature looks were improved - Hydra, Wraith, Lich, Unicorn and so on... But there aer other that I don't feel so strongly about - the Archdevil, Gargoyles and a few others.
Still HOMM V has take Heroes to another level. After the dissapoitment of HOMM IV, it's a great change and a good step. Let's just see where they will take it from here in what direction will HOMM go on either in expansion packs or further versions.

well I finally got my collector’s addition three days ago, with the shiny coin (what are we meant to do with this btw).
I ordered the box so that I would get it here in Fiji without having to wait a lifetime.
first impressions were good, i didn’t download the demo because I only have dialup. so I was pretty impressed mostly.
am yet to play much but I like the inferno faction,
and it is cool being able to scroll close-ups of the battle action.
I'm going to try some MP action on TOH maybe if the dial-up works for that.
