Just played a game on neighbours against Gorguss some days back at hard difficulty, I was inferno, I got the devil building at end of week 4, could have got it at week 3 also if wouldn't have bought any creatures. Then right after I build it, we get week of festivals, which resulted in that I never had the money to actually buy any devils so that was 15k wasted money that could have used to instead recruit most of the 20 or so pit lords I also had unbuyed in town still at the end (had all lower level units built already).
So it is definetily possible to get to level 7 dwelling decently early (I had all other creature dwellings as well as castle and capitol already built by the time I got the devil building) during hard, it might not always be the smartest thing to do.
I did still win the game though, although that was mostly because of my staff of sar-issus and expert dark magic with frenzy and mass slow and mass confusion (opponent played sylvan) even though he had better hero and about equal army (he had more high level units, like actually 5 dragons and 26 ancient treants and stuff while I only had 5 pit lords and no devils, but I instead had lot more low level units thanks to not having lost much of them as I got Deleb to my starting hero (with random town) so had first aid and fire ballista minimizing my early game casualties).

actually there's also some ai issies, if you play next to an agressive ai player they might clear the path and loose a lot of ppl which leaves you to go in and take their area
who cares about imbalances anyway, they make it fun

Hard is absolutely the best option for multi maps. As Klaital mentioned we got struck by week of festivals and still we got some 7th lvl dwelling creatures(at least one of us did ). Just remember to take all the money you can get and spare some of that wood for important stuff.
Balance was fairly ok on Neighbours, but keep in mind that underground has an advantage as you don't need to move on sand like it is on the surface.
And Klaital, don't make the mistake of thinking you bragging around on the forum will go unnoticed

Another issue with Subterranian Treasures
It has been brought to my attention by Scotty-Boi that the Blue player can actually go around the guards by his second town guarding the Den of Thieves allowing you to get quite a bit of loot first week before you could kill the guards. In looking at things further I also found that you can get around the lvl 6 guards nearby and get 2 out of 3 artifacts without fighting them either.
Those of you who played HoMM 3 randoms are familiar with this happening and there was always an unwritten rule that you fought the guards as was obviously intended before taking any of the treasure. I sugest using this same philosphy here or eliminating anyone from being blue. Let's hope we don't find anything wrong with green or yellow or this will be a solo map. LOL

There are some artifacts that can be taken without a fight on yellow too. They are guarded by a lvl 3 monster or something like that ... Last time I played there were Specters guarding them. Anyway these are not relics or major artifacts , and the guards are easy to defeat, and you should defeat them since more experience is always needed , so I don't think this should be a problem. Probably it's the same for blue ... or maybe this is a compensation !

concerns shipyard-guards (Shadow Witches) on peninsula
I think it's a bit annoying that "player two" (blue) is able to reach the shore of his opponent with only fighting the shadow witches once (on his own side) while "player one" (red) has to fight twice (his own guards to build the ship plus the opponent's guards to reach shore). I am not sure if it is a bug or a feature . I do not see an equal advantage for red that could neutralize this.
Depending on the faction its possible for "player two" to reach the castle of "player one" end of first or at least beginning of second week (with no need to send his main hero). Player two on the other hand will have too many losses if he has to fight the witches twice. He has to wait 'till day one of second week to build the boat and needs at least 4 more days to reach the castle. And I daubt that he is able to defeat the witches with a lowlevel hero.

ive just starrted losing games now on ToH, i guess people are getting used to my supreme methods of destruction
im actually quite sad (end offtopic)

Quote: Well I am not sure if this is a balance issue, but in the peninsula map the tiers of the guardians seem to change... like in one game a stack of gold and chests was guarded by wardancers, in the next game it was familiars. (and it was even harder difficulty when it was familiars).
I wouldn't call this an inbalance Klaital, I'd call it more of a
balance if anything, because if they were the same guards at the same place everytime you would know exactly what you can and can't
take from the very beginning, so you would even be able to write out a walkthrough for your self that would be completely infallible
thence giving you the clear advantage against those who havn't played that map much.
p.s. To furtheranswer your question I have found that in a lot of maps that the tiers vary,I don't believe this is an issue because as you explore more you will come across an easier group.
Example:you might have lots of wardancers in first guard post you attack and lots of assasin on the next, but if you play the map again the assasin might be on that first post and the wardancers on the next, so what I'd do is take the second post first and the first post later.

difficulty
Quote: Indeed, hard difficulty is the best to play with on multi.
Vesuvius on Heroic you have 10k gold, 10 ore-wood and 5 for other resources. I think that it is enough for everything. The game is harder ,not soo lucky and the creatures on the Map are stronger. On Hard everyone can start with 3 heroes on first week and to play with "close eyes".

huh.. depends on the map valentin and i think heroic is too much. You may be extra skilled i dunno but you dont play alone, your weaker opponent wants GAme as well
Also, you will play forever on heroic. Personally, as till now, i prefer normal

The game is harder only because AI player gets much more resurses at the begining. The neutrals are not stronger as I noticed. So basicly you only give more chanses for the AI player.. And slow the game a lot.

There is a higher # of units per stack in Heroic, and the growth rate per week seems more exponential. So guardians will be even harder to break (& sometimes impossible) at Heroic. That being said, I've been playing the campaigns & single player maps on heroic lol.
