Quote: I can give some tips on the shipyard question. As for the fill tool... I haven't used it much.
I never did any custom fills. I seem to recall the process being talked about somewhere on the CelestialHeaven forum, but my dim memory is that it was too complicated for me.
Quote: Is your shipyard near a ramp? The player has to be able to get to the boat once it is built. When you place the shipyard near the ramp you will see a square highlight on the ramp showing where a newly built boat will appear.
True, however that little square is very faint and hard to see. The trick is to slowly move the shipyard around near the ramp while watching the water intently.

Thank you fulano and rdeford
Is there a way to accelerate the task of putting palms around?
I'm making a world's map, not exactly looking like the world, since water would take too much land , and I'm starting to put details over the arabic peninsule (land of the Academy ), and now I'm stuck placing palm by palm..very tedious.
So rdeford, if you have the link of that discussion, I would apreciate that very much.

Ah!, other question.
I have managed to make a raisen ground completelly smooth, ie., without the 'raisen walls' -hope you understand what i'm talking about-, now how i did this? i dont remember.
Do anybody knows how i did it?, i know the 'smooth' button alone can't do that.

Use the Bulk tool instead of the Raise tool.

The bulk and dig tools raise and lower the ground without making cliffs around it like the raise and lower tools will do.
Did you use raise then surround it with ramps to smooth it out? Or did you use the bulk tool maybe? That's all I can guess.

Nope. You have to plant them one tree at a time. It's tedious but it builds character.

Sorry, I don't have it. It will take a couple of hours to read through the entire CH forum. I did it back when I first started making H5 maps, and it helped me a lot. Oh, you might get lucky with a Google search and find it right away. Just try a few different queries with different wording and burn some incense.

If you are able to change the file FillPresets found here...
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Editor
...you'll have a new Filltype available in the Editor. Maybe a Scripter can help.

Ramps-- You must begin with the Raise tool. Ramps can only be applied to land that has been Raised and has cliff walls. Then, select the Ramp tool and set the width of the tool to something equal to or less than the width of the wall where you desire to place the ramp. L-click and hold on the top edge of a cliff wall and drag straight away from the cliff wall. The ramp will appear. Oh, and make sure the cliff wall is straight (not indented or protruding) where you are going to place the ramp.

Nope. You have to plant them one tree at a time. It's tedious but it builds character.
Maybe this can help:
You can place a bunch of palms then select them and copy them (Edit->Copy, or Ctrl-C), then paste (Edit->Paste or Ctrl-V) in groups of trees instead of one at a time, it might save you some time.
Use the R button to rotate objects as you place them so they look a little more different, it adds diversity.
Use the mask tool to keep the players from passing an area so you don't have to make it solid trees. It helps older computers run the game better when there aren't tons of trees. Also masking off areas speeds up the AI because it doesn't need to process as much land.

Use masking. (Mask tab on Tool Panel) The mask on the tiles is invisible to the player but not passable for a hero.

I wish I knew how to change the witch hut skills, but as far as I know you can't. Let's see if somebody else around here knows.
As for editing teams you load the map in the editor then click: View > Map Properties > Teams.
In the teams tab you need to check the teams box then pick the number of teams for the map. Then set which team each player is in and you should be good to go. I'd advise you to save the map as something else though or create a backup copy before you edit the maps.

The advice given should work just fine. Look over all the other tabs. For example, make sure you set up the player specs so that they are human or computer as you require.
AND, make sure you savethe map after you make the changes. Then open the map specs to ensure that nothing has reset itself.

I've found the teams tab to be a little buggy at times, try changing it a few times. Just make sure the dot next to the name is what team they should be on, and make sure to save it as mentioned above.
If it looks like that won't work you can still change the teams manually in the map properties if you're up for the challenge.
>Click View and go to the Map Propterties Tree. This should bring up a list of properties on the left.
>Click on the "players" list that is somewhere in the middle.
>Expand the list by clicking the plus symbol and you will see a list of all 8 players and their settings. Take note that [0] in this list is actually Player 1, [1] is Player 2, etc.
>Open the properties for each player you want to edit (Probably 0 through 5?) and you will see the "Team" property. Just change that number to what team you want the player to be on. Again, "0" is team 1, "1" is team 2, etc.
Hopefully that will work for you!

There is no way to make a Witch Hut give a particular skill using the map editor tools. However, it is fairly easy to do this trick if you know how to write H5 scripts. Basically, you must create a script for your map, then within the script, you first disable the Witch Hut objects's normal action. Then you give the Witch Hut object a script name. Then you write a function that gives the current hero a skill. Then you trigger that function when a hero touches the object you gave the name to. Unfortunately, teaching H5 scripting is outside the scope of this forum.
