Quote: look guys, I've been playing homm since king's bounty, and homm1. I love heroes, part of my soul is attached to this game. But I do love homm5 more than all the others, even though the feeling of nostalgia from homm1,2, and 3 isn't there. So for me I cannot comprehend the anti-homm5 sentiment from homm3 players, except for those who don't have computers that meet the system requirements.
I've been seeing that you have been supporting H5 very positivley.. Although I think you are in a type of position that you must support it, despite how you feel. Don't get me wrong, I think your oppinion of heroes is huge, afterall if it wasn't for the way you felt about the game you never would have made that website way back when.. But for you to tell me that you honestly and genuinly enjoy heroes 5 more then heroes 3 just doesn't seem true to me... I'm not calling you a liar, but I guess i'm just curious as to why you like it better than the rest...
Maybe we need Hitler to be our anti-homm5 sentiment leader.?

ok i completely agree with this statement. if someone says something meaningless and lacking in purpose you do not HAVE to respond. you WANT to respond.
it is true insatiables remarks are often compelling, pointless and lead to nowhere. but you were intriuged sir. ADMIT IT!!!!

strangly agreeing with Ves
after trying to hack thru this game on my crappy comp i finally gave up ahnd took the whole thing over to my ole buddies Yawacko and Pandora's place and installed it on there new supercomputer, i finally got to see what this game was all about, and I wasn't disapointed, once I was able to actualy play the game to it's fullest with the beautifull graphics and all it was a great experience. I wouldn't presume to tell anybody what game to like or dislike, but I can say without a doubt in my mind that this is a great game, even Pan and Wacko were impressed by it and they are not much into the homm thing anymore. soon as i get enough time gonna bomb by there place and try this game online, will prob. get my @$$ handed to me as i'm not very practiced as of yet but am lookin forward to reporting my first game on TOH, and i hope i'll get to report many more before this game has run it's course.
ps, trying to convince Pan and Yawacko to by Hammers

Actually it was Angelito's remark about basketball that got me inspired... Insatiable is just posting random peoples pictures to get a laugh out of people which I think is really disrespectful..
Mklth- What can you tell me is better about Heroes 5 than Heroes 3 ?

It doesn't work that way, The argument about which is better homm5 or 3 is useless and really not the point, The point is homm3 is an old game and homm5 is new and different that is the issue , If you can play homm3 forever well good for you but i will never believe you still get the rush as in the early homm3 days , I know i didn't And homm5 gave me part of it back and thats that.

To nevermind:
It was the same rush I got when I first played chess just like with anything new.. But I still play chess and I learn new things all the time, just like Homm3 would have been.. the competition would have been so advanced by this time, not to mention there could be some new patches to spice up the game..
To everyone:
I'm 0 for 2 asking what makes homm5 better then 3.. so maybe theres a few homm5 players (assuming you played homm3 in depth) that can tell me what exactly makes homm5 better than homm3

Quote: Unfortunatley I find you extremely annoying because everything you say has absolutley no purpose or meaning.. yet I still read it and have to respond.. besides basketball, how about chess? such an old good game, you probably wonder why they don't upgrade it to get into modern times.. Well I'll tell you why, because theres nothing to upgrade, theres no reason to upgrade, new strategies are still being formed today.. If somethings not broken don't fix it.. Heroes 3 was not perfect but it was definatley not broken, H4 and H5 were for greedy people to make some money because people like insatiable HAVE to get the new games...

If H3 comes back I do too, along with 2 of my friends i'm sure of that.
better not and...better not.
ive noticed that ,for SOME, so called "potential coming back" players, retired for good obviously, the word "h3" it has the "if , if ... " words attached like a tail. too many conditions and no "endif" to complete the cycle , if u get me right (basics prog. ). i prefer to see u playin than warning about your return, generally speaking, like a tsunami, el nino and catrina alltogether.
tournament is open for h3 aswell, i dont see the point to interfere with other sections, and believe me, if the activity will require this, im sure ves will do something to encourage the h3 part.

And Instatiable, are you getting permission to post peoples pictures up here? As far as i'm concerend you are doing it illeagly, although I don't know all the laws, but If i was that guy in the picture you just posted I would not be very happy with you.
he's papparazzo
but.. it wasnt you in the pic? hmmm.. however, the guy doesnt look too happy for me anyway, and the picture might boost his morale up, it cannot be worse. media is eldorado.
have a nice day
advice: with or without any "official" tournament, u can still have fun playing any game u want , no need to argue.

it's not about new or old, better or worse
it's not about ToH either..
it's about having an alive homm online community, even if small, and belong in it
as things are, h5 and toh provide that need for me
i didnt want to quit h4
but it didnt provide me this basic need
having an alive homm online community and belong in it, through a relaxed paced game, all homm's can do that
h5 is h3 with twists. to like h3 and not h5 is an obvious big lie.
so you guys that claim that love h3 and wont change it, you just dont want to participate in online gaming anymore. fair enough, one has to do other things as well and not enough room for all in 1 lifetime
so i guess im being annoying in response to your annoying childish behaviour.
at some point comes the time where we have to speak things by their name

Quote: h5 is h3 with twists. to like h3 and not h5 is an obvious big lie.
This is exactly the point u don't seem to get.
The mainly reason why many H3 lovers don't like H5 is not the gameplay, the new skill system, the new battlefield, the new creatures...it is THE GRAPHICS!!Many players (me included) just don't like a 3D style on a turnbased strategy game. I found H5 great when I started playing it last year. I didn't bother about some bugs, or lagging or such. But the graphics annoyed me more and more....and then there was a point when the annoyment was bigger than the enjoyment was. This was the time when I uninstalled H5. Coz it was obvious, they wouldn't change the graphics with upcomming patches or add ons, but only the bugs.
This is why u often read (from H3 addicts, me included):
- the new skill system is great, would love to see that on H3
- the new battlefield design is great, by far much better than H4 was
- they brought in some very interesting new spells
- the action of a hero on the battlefield is a great mixture of H3 and H4
If it would only be isometric instead of 3D....

Why don't you just play it in 'HOMM classic view' then??? It's virtually the same - you don't need to worry about zooming or rotating camera angles etc. It's just a fixed top down view with the north at the top of your screen. I don't know if this was brought in with HoF or was always there - I bought both at once - but it's much more user friendly.

I play in homm classic view also, no weird turn arounds, just plain old 2 ish 3d North is up and South is Down.
Makes the map graphics near to identical to H3. The only problem I get sometimes is that items or treasures can hide behind terrain or eye candy and it makes it hard to see/pick up
But often times moving the camera a bit north or south and zooming in or out will fix that.

to teacher
listen, theres only one condition needed which is the support of enough people to get h3 running again. apparently you did not
read the original post by motorschaaf, a lot of people feel the same way, they miss H3. Don't get me wrong
I play the game still but it's not the same without the competition just like in any game. The computer impossible mode is
much too weak and although I get good games with my friends it's boring playing the same people.
about the pic..no it wasn't me in the picture, nor was it you, or was it insatiable so im sure you do get a good laugh out of it.
I guess you forgot the Golden Rule?
P.S. what can you possibly be a teacher of?
to Insatiable
I got a new form of respect for you because you actually made a lot of sense this time. you actually even answered the_teacher
for me as in why I don't play for "fun". But again you have to go ass u ming thigns again saying we don't want to participate in
online gaming anymore.. You should listen to Angelito he can teach you a few things.

what's better than homm 3 ?
i'm not sure why anybodied even ask this question, what was better about about homm 2 as opposed to kings bounty? or homm3 as opposed to homm2? each one in turn was an improvement on the one before, the graphics got better, the game play became succesivly more complex and interesting, i think homm4 lost out because it was to much of a change, it became a heroe building game while the earlier homms had been army building games. homm 5 gives us more of everything is all, more grahpics, more strategic depth, just more homm stuff. so i like it a lot, for the same reasons i liked all the homm the games , each one amps up the experience, but even more then any homm before it this version gives a player so many more choices in everything including just basic game play, as stated a few posts ago, even if you don't like the new 3d camera stuff and want the old system, fine, you can play it locked into top down mode, no swinging cams and stuff, to be honest, that's how i prefer to play it myself, i fully agree that all that camera stuff seems wasted in a turn based strat. game, but that's me. Others probably love the new abillity to swing the view and move in and out and stuff. either way it's the players choice. I'm the type of player who checks out all the fancy graphical stuff then strips it away anyways, i play homm at full speed with no seeing comp turns and stuff, with no eye candy. i also play civ 4 this way, in the end it's the strategy that i'm in for and homm 5 does a nice job of letting me play the game as i like, not as i must. all the better games that've come out give you these options now and homm 5 does a great job of it. hope this answers what's better about homm 5. but in the end it's a matter of opinion, everything i just said could be considered strikes against the game by others, which would make this a worse game in there mind. that's fine, if that't your point of view great. to sum up, i answer in this way, what's better about homm 5 than homm 3? i like it better, nuff said.
ps cann;t wait to check out hammers of fate, vive le homm !!!
a little canadian stuff in there

It actually only becomes possible as of one of the patchs, the original unpatched game does not have that option.
Midnight confused the hell outta me when he said, your gonna want to play in this view.. and I couldn't find it.
Its prolly 1.3 or so that the option becomes available.

oh.. havent took a peek in here for a while now . its a nice thing that h3 players can now play for ranking system too, but to be true i doubt im gonna play more than 4-5 rated games by the end of the year.
its simply because to me the only real motivation to play again is to play it hardcore in a tuff and challengng hardcore tourney like the "legends" idea is about. ...maybe it hard to understand what i mean but to me fun 1on1 games i prefer playing in the german community. when i think about the "good ol' toh times" i miss the games vs. guys that would sell their grandma for a win

Good to see you came back to your post moto. I, 100% agree with you. I won't even bother to post the games I play for h3 because to me it seems more like just a mini-game tournament, which doesnt compare to when it was the latest game out.
