But WHY have THREE units that are ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME?
I mean, I'm not a huge fan of having two line-ups that are identical, but I can see this is a funny feature and a nice way to implement the twist from Good to Evil in the storyline of the Campaigns. But THREE line-ups just seems so pointless? - and you still haven't given me one single reason *why*.

Ok then,
Reason 1
Why not have a third line up Haven Upgrades?
Reason 2
If you take a look at your Ashan Map, you can see that the Holy Griffen Empire is very large, so like in WW1, the countys Loran and one other one (can not remember name), were captured by the Germans, they inflewenced the Frech people living stlye. So if you could have that apply to Heroes 5. Some towns near Inferno country could have those Renegade Troops.
Then take that even further, and add that to another part of the lands, the parts near Ygg-Chall could have Dark Troops (ie my new troops)
Reason 3
The Holy Griifen Empire is so big anyway, people could control each county diiferently, ricer ones have original line up, poorer ones have my third
Happy Now? three good reasons

nice how would you make them change though? have a button that says TURN EVIL?
1.they aren't evil
2. what is two-handed swordsman?

Ted, skip the idea of an this line-up and consentrate on making the renengrades playbarle. Insteard, you could make a second line up for Necropolis:
1. Skeleton Warrior (Undead, Unlimited Retaliation)
2. Ghoul (Undead, Wound, Armored)
3. Mane (Undead, Incorporeal, Magic-proof 50%)
4. Dark Reaver (Undead, No Enemy Retaliation, Life Drain, Double Attack)
5. Demilich (Undead, Large Creature, Shooter, Death Cloud, Mana Destroyer, Scatter Shot)
6. Slayer (Undead, Large Creature, Poisonous Attack)
7. Ghost Dragon (Undead, Large Creature, Flyer, Fear Attack)

1. Ok then, have a button that says Choose your Lord
Eg. Isabel.............Demon Sovren..............Lord Somebody
2. simple, a swordsman that has both hands on his sword

Hmm, o well, i gess im beat, i think i will now do what Fortress fans suggested and make a Renegade line up for the other Factions

Ted, I understand that you want a third set of Haven upgrades. That's your choice and I respect that. What I don't understand is if you are doing the mod, and how you'll do it.
Basically, your project rises 3 issues we don't master at the moment:
1. So far, we can't create new creatures in the game, mostly because we can't set new abilities. We can use existing creatures and change them in something else, again, without touching their abilities.
2. The second problem are the creatures' models: I have yet to see someone create a completely new model. So far, every mod that changes a creature visual appearance does it by modding an existing texture. Don't get me wrong, some mods do that really well!
3. And finally, I have no idea how you can ask the Haven player to choose one upgrade or another. Whatever the creatures to choose from, usual Haven, Renegades or a new set, introducing this behavior is a challenge by itself.
So, if you can shed some light here on how you plan to implement any of these 3 points, it'll worth it by itself! If we can solve any of these issues, that will open new pathways in the modding community.

ok then i better get cracking
1. hmm, got a bit of a problem here, i no, ok, creating an alternative upgrade is not to hard really, you simply change the look of the excisting creature, so if we take a bit of one unit and add it to another, we get new unit
so,
Militia
if we take a Conscript add a new weapon + change his hat that would do me
+
+
(and add a stick)
= militia!
Long-Bowman
take a Archer, make his bow bigger and give him more armor, but not too much
+
+
= Long-Bowman
Tow Handed-Swordsmen
take the footman lose the Sheild + add a helmet and armor
footman
-
sheild
+ helmet and
Continue with this later hope some1 can help me, Alc come on your a preist, a man of God and KnightDougal my old friend lend me a hand

Ok then,
Reason 1
Why not have a third line up Haven Upgrades?
Because I would rather have them focus their energy into making three towns that are different (say: Haven, Orc and Naga) than three towns that are almost the same (e.g. Haven Classic, Haven Renegade, Haven Alternative Renegade).
Oh, and you can't just throw in Graphics in the way you sugest. It wouldn't work. It's far more complicated than that - you have to have a 3D model.

true. Anyone know how to edit those?
also, having two alternations for a faction is enough, we don't need three. if you want that, work on some other factions. Heaven knows there's enough material for
Demons
Mages
Necromancers
and probobally enough for
Dwarves
Elves
Nagas
Orcs

I actually think there's much more future in the idea of Alternative Upgrades (or Branch Creatures) that we discussed a long time ago in the Altar Of Wishes (see here - interesting posts on page 1 (by actionjack) and 2 (my input) amongst others).

that is so, but a few things are wrong
1. In that forum, you talked about complete other troops, but i just want alternative upgrades (difference)
and 2. In that forum you had all the units in H3 in there,
eg. Troglodyte,
but in Dungeon, Actionjack put that you could have all the eleven units different, problem?
why because if they had no elves in their unit line up, how in the world can they be the Dark Elves?

Yes, that's true.

That is also true - you will not necessarily be able to fit in the old units as upgrades to the new ones. However, to have two different set of creatures instead of just different upgrades will still allow you much more freedom and many more possible variations, because you won't be tied by the fact that you have to find and alternative elven unit for an elven unit, etc.
