As awesome as those gun kata films are.
EDIT: Joonas meant that he listed a film that was from Hong Kong, not that he wouldn't name a good film from there. So my reference to John Woo films was ill-fitting.

Watch "Nostalghia" by Tarkovski. It is one of my favourites. Or you can watch any of his films except "Stalker". But Nostalghia is the best. Sublime. Perfect.
Edit 2: I have just seen "Polish" there. Kieslowski????

Definitely try this one. It's not really that good if you ain't Polish because it has a million subtexts referring to Polish reality but it's still a pretty damn good drama.
No, it's not a comedy

Stalker was much better than Nostalghia, me thinks. Probably my favorite from Tarkovski. I like art movies a lot, but this guy's movies are dreadfully slow. I just can't stand him! But Stalker had some really, really great imagery to go along with the movie's pacing and that made it quite enjoyable.

You're entitled to your opinion ofcourse but I think that it's probably the only movie of that kind you have watched. I don't think you would feel differently for the rest of Tarkovski's movies and other such directors.

Some of my favorite movies:
V for Vendetta.
Shutter Island.
REC 1 (estupendo!)
Looking forward for the third one. As usually, the american remake sucked. l2readsubtitles
Alien, first one and the one with the hybrid.
Sucker Punch.
Charlie's Angels, the one with a female antagonist.
These movies go on TV like once a month lol.
Låt den rätte komma in (Let the right one in, Swedish non-twilightey vampire movie)
Star Wars - Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith
Baby Doll
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Avatar (mostly visuals lol)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2.

Just bought myself 'Let the right one in', as I had seen the American version (which is also really good) and my uncle had told me the original Swedish version was better. Excellent movie.
I've always loved Nosferatu (the Klaus Kinski version), because it was just so beautifully filmed and I loved the music.

I don't exactly have a favorite movie, but there are several that I loved (here at the mainstream ones)
- Reservoir Dogs
- Lord of the Rings (all three parts)
- Deathly Hallows (part 1 because I haven't seen Part 2... yet)
- Lawrence of Arabia
- Pirates of the Caribbean 1 (2 and 3 are awful)
- The Lion in Winter
- Gladiator
- Gone with the wind
- Dogville
- 21 Grammes
- Paycheck
- Mission Impossible (which is weird considering I cannot really stand Tom Cruise)
- Trainspotting
- All three Indiana Jones movies
- Five of the Star Wars movies (I never liked Attack of the Clones much, hence why I'm not including it)
- Murder on the Orient Express
- All Poirot movies starring Peter Ustinov
- several European movies (mostly English) I cannot remember atm.
- several animated Disney movies I'll spare you guys from
- Any amazing movie I've forgotten to mention, just as a failsafe.

Herzog's Nosferatu is great too but I like the original silent movie better. Max Schreck portrayed the best vampire ever! You would think he was one for real.

Now watching The Brother's Grimm, with Matt Damon and Heath Ledger. I'd forgotten how much I like this movie. Peter Stormare is the best thing in it!!!

Well, I don't like face-paced movies that much It's because I only like that films which are called "art" movies, and I think for a true reason and most of them have that life-like rythme. Life is not that fast. But of curse once a year or two years, there comes some Hollywood films that are great. My most favourite Hollywood film is "The Hours" and "American Beauty" is the second one. But knowing genuieses like Bergman, Kieslowski, Jarman, Haneke and such I really feel bad about these people who don't like "art" films and thinks Titanic hilarious. It is like playing only Tetris and saying "I love video games". One is entertainment and is good at it for some people but on the other hand, say, Diablo 2, Heroes series or Half Life 2 and its episodes are "art" for me. Same goes for the movies.
EDIT: I hope noone said "Titanic" as the answer to this tread. It was just a randomly picked movie for me in the sake of giving an example.

actually someone did
as for nice movies here's a bunch:
101 reykjavic (funny and witty), cargo 200 (gruz 200) (heavy), kitchen stories (funny), and many more but those are especially good imho.
beside you need some more European presence here

Lawrence of Arabia. Long and interesting one. I have a feeling the old movies are better. Just like newer games, they are made to be sold, not to be really good. (with some exceptions...)
