"Kanal" by Wajda is really good. "Requiem for a dream" and "grave of the fireflies" are the best movies I never want to see again.

There are so many great movies out there, though. I don't think I could name a favourite any more. I have a great weakness for genre movies though, especially battle royale, suckerpunch and pulp fiction and the like.

Also, like 80% of Studio ghibli films are highly enjoyable at the very least, imo.

For some reason I never got the hype about Requiem for a Dream. It's a good movie and all but it just never made it to the awesome section.

I think it's the shock factor that makes it memorable to most. I like the parallels between characters a lot. Almost gives it the structure of and old novel.

I just remembered I also love "Old Boy." (Mostly because of that scene. You know which one I'm talking about. It's the one where the camera never switches angles for 5 mins straight.)
