Warlock solves. Empowered meteor shower forces the enemy to leave the walls or get fried, since its pretty tight around there. It ignores wall penalties and kills like everywhere else.

Might heroes obviously suck in sieges.

A better question would have been: Which race is best >Against< siege - Then we could just say: Fortress!!

But a siege master... A skilled mage indeed - Warlock, why not? A mage? Would do the same , only he can last longer...

But what do you actully think about the sieges - I hate them! Because i cannot really, well get to the people. Only flyers, else you have to lose HUGE amounts of creatures because of the defense thing ! I HATE IT!! This game suck about sieges... I only destroy them by Flyers, Magic and the front gate! ... :S I dont like the whole siege thing... I want the old one, lose a turn when reach moat and thats it!

It's funny because a shackled warlock can simply meteor a catapult and it's gg if enemy has no mana/earthquake/expert teleport.

That's why it's forbidden in tournaments.

IMO Inferno Rules. With it's gating it can easlly send forces behind the walls to get defenders busy, while wait for Pit Lords to cast some Fireballs, or Meteor Showers
Also there is Necropolis with 3 flyers the Specters/Ghost with excelent incorproal ability, Vampires with Life Draining(Of course if they are sieging living enemy), and those Bone Dragoons. Wall or no Walls the Dead will come for you and get you everywhere

With the Guard Post, the Fortress is the best in siege defense, hands down. However, since this thread is about siege attacks, eh... may the better tactician win.

warlocks r best in defending and attacking seige,if defending just as soon as 2 turns come for ur hero,2 empowered meteor showers(hopefully 1 is lucky) and bam ur enimes r dead,and while attacking it is very tight inside the castle so meteor shower still kicks ass,dungeon has the upper hand siege wise

Yeah but if the armies are equal one teleport per turn won't help that much because the enemy can focus on it. And brimstone rain means you'll have to give up on first aid tent that along with the ballista makes a good early combo. That said inferno has a better time than others in a siege but for warlocks it's rather effortless.

I think Necro is the worst in siege attacks allong with humans.The best are Warlock,and the best defenders in a siege are dwarfs.If they cast the incorporeal rune they are hard to defeat.

Here is what I think:

Haven
Having two flyer and two shooter. Knights usually has light magic on expert level so they can also use teleports they own creatures inside to castle. Depening on skills and ground type they can have insane fast in siege. Overall: Average

Inferno
Only one flyer and shooter, but they have pit lords. Chainshot and fireballs are fine. Gating ROCKS here by making opponents very busy for defending. Demon lords casts dark magics and they catapult wrecks the castle to apart. Overall: very good

Sylvan
Two quick flyers and two powerful shooter. Imbue arrow + meteor shower + rain of arrows is something what opponent doesnt like at all. Triple ballista works fine here to. Ranger usually has light magic to boost they troops. Overall: ok if you have right skills

Dungeon
One powerful flyer and two descent shooter. But really makes this faction excellent in siege is they hero...WARLOCK. Creatures can just wait outside while Warlocks cast empowered implosions and meteor shower. This tactic works fine as long as Warlock have some mana remaining. They can learn teleport assault and use it if you dont like to spam damagive spells only. They can also cast earthquake with stunning effects. Overall: Excellent

Necropolis
They have three descent flyers and two shooters. This is battle where liches really shines wsince usually none is going to block them and they death cloud usually hits at least two targets. If you have learn death march you can block all opponents shooter at first turn. Necromancer supports by casting dark magic spells like frenzy and mass decay and mark of the necromancer means that they CANT running out of mana. Overall: Quite good

Academy
Having two flyers and THREE shooters. They can simply wait for outside and shoot opponents to death. Wizards needs only cast mass decay and keep using counterspell to prevent cleansing.
Overall: Very good

Fortress
Only one flyer and two shooter. Being melee oriented defensive town means they havent really good units for siege. Runes helps lots here and so do fireball+ingite combo.
Overall: Below average

Best one: Dungeon or Necropolis but I say dungeon

Well okay warlock is clearly the best but he has this mana issue.... when thats gone and you havn't done enough dmg it can look pretty dull for you. I actually prefer Inferno because with TA and clever gating you can get the enemy down quite nicely

You forgot one thing: Dwarves like Light Magic = Teleport . they could easily get magma Dragons to the frontlines . But yes they are not the best .. Atleast make it average...

(they also favour the destrucktion magic, where armegeddon, fireball and meteor shower could turn things up sidee down... With Rune of Res. the foes shooters might not be that good in the long wrong either.)

how much knowledge does a warlock lvl 20 have?? about 10? now how do want to survive on that when your major dmg ressource is magic?
please correct me if im mistaken considering the amount of knowledge

Don't forget that spells cost 20% less with Arcane Training, it is further reduced up to 50% via Erratic Mana. So Empowered (Lucky) Meteor Shower can cost something of a 16 mana... Now considering that you really don't have to cast many of those to obliterate the enemy...

Edit. Oh and I forgot Artifact Merchant. You can actually buy Knowledge.
