I'd sooner we see an adult forum... namus would certainly post there.
Is the actual topic here dead now then?

I rarely even notice the thread ratings. I stick to certain forums, and generally the forum descriptions define more or less what type of posts they hold.
It seems more people appreciate the ratings, than there are who have a problem with them. Perhaps the ratings that indicate a quality measurement are not really in place. Perhaps the suggesting of using a rating system based on numeric votes would be more effective. Maybe nothing needs to change at all.
I do think we need more freggel avatars.

As for myself, I don't really care about those ratings...rarely ever notice them...Although showing who rated the threads might be a good idea...
That's a great idea!
Inside the thread, there should be place where it's written who rated the thread.

Quote: About 5-star members wanting a privilege, how about letting them view (though still not post in) the modsquad headquarters?
*prepares to get hanged by the mods*
(...)
Well how can they abuse that if they can't post anything? You're afraid they'll find out something they shouldn't?
Just to clarify that it's not only Pandora that's against this, I have to say that the above is absolutely out of the question. There are sometimes things that need to be discussed which should not get out to everybody, or which might even concern some of the five-star members. There is no guarantee that Mods hold their tongue (there has been incidents ...), but none-the-less, they have agreed not to share any confidential matter, and know that the consequence will be immediate dismissal. There is no such guarantee with the five-star members.
Personally, I don't think this topic is dead. Personally, I would still like to see some inprovements on the rating system, maybe some people don't use it, but it's there, so it should not be such a mess as it is.
Separating Quality ratings from Content ratings might help. Changing Quality ratings to a numerical factor might also make it better, but one should be aware that one could still abuse the system - rating a thread with a "1" is no better than rating it "to delete" or "average". So no matter what, one needs to make the decision: Do we trust the 5-star members to rate threads?
Personally, I trust them to do it properly, if we stress that it's something which should not be used as a toy. Someone recently achieving honorable status went through all his threads and rated them Inspiring, that is not very serious, one might even say it's not very responsible ... And neither is using it as a means to belittle other users. But I think we have now come to the point where we can see that at least in the case which spawned this discussion, that was not really what happened.

This topic is not worth getting into.
Rating threads is based on personal opinions, Vendettas or Favortism.
It does not go any other way.
It wont change.
TA idea or mine or whoever.
Saying someones thread is ave is basically saying your thread is sorry LOL.
Inspiring means your thread rocks the boat
Basically this is not that important.
I dont think many cares.
I wouldnt care if any of yall SO CALLED honourable members went in my profile, took out every thread I had & rated them average.
I dont dwell on things like this because it will not improve HC.
I dont think many members really are into it much.

Well, if the 5-star members can be trusted with some responsibility, I think changing the current ratings to numbers (say 1 to 5) wouldn't be a bad idea...Blue stars, maybe?
It would make it easier for the mods to determine if something is really quality...It'd also make an end to all of these problems, because that system would wortk with averages, and the whole rating wouldn't be based on just one person's opinion...

Thread rating have no bearing on thread quality - with matters of quality, if members think a certain thread/post is worthy, then they should say so in the appropriate forum feedback - or talk to the moderators or whatever...
I've never seen "inspiring" on a thread and felt any major inclination to pull out the QP bag
For the most part, I now disregard the ratings altogether - because I don't really think they mean anything. As Alc said, more often than not the ratings are just a new toy to be played with for the members that just achieved the rank - or of course, something Consis likes to do to pass the time

A new member maybe, when he/she creates his/her first thread(s). Not too motivating if rated "to delete" just for fun....

It all boils down to some guy who made a thread and no one liked it. That's the root of the issue.
I think that they should have a Shirley Temple and get to work on those 5 stars.
