Can Anyone Help With Heroes III Music?
Firstly, hello and thanks for opening!
Um, last month I was searching Heroes III of Might and Magic in several stores but they're all sold out, so I have no choice but to download it from the net. And since I've been too busy then, (homework, etc...) I went to a friend who have been playing it for years and asked her to burn the contents to a blank disk and give it to me. When she gave it to me last week, I extracted the file (from the CD's Compressed Zipped folder)to my PC. The game (like all Heroes game) turned out great, but the problem is, no music plays wherever you are in the map. There are also no Castle Themes present. However, some sounds/effects did appear (i.e. New day, when you visit arena/academy/magic incarnation, start of battle but NOT the combat theme, near a laprechaun's garden/mines, pick up an artifact etc...) . So I'm really confused , here's a list of things that I did:
1.) Put the CD in the CD drive
2.) A folder (compressed zipped folder) appeared with the title Heroes of Might And Magic III, right click to extract.
3.) Wait for the extracting w/c took several minutes
4.) A message said extracting was successful and I opened Heroes icon via the folder I put the Heroes in.
5.) Voila! The game starts smoothly and WoG Main Menu theme plays. I played a random map with Maundor as my starting hero (Not sure if that information is needed ) and clicked on my Necropolis town and no music is heard only the sound when you build a structure. So I quit the game and went back to the open folder.
6.) I clicked on 'Mp3' folder and much to my surprise, only one file is present, the 'WoG Main Menu'
So can someone tell me what's wrong? Can I download tracks from the internet and somehow instill them in the game? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!
A Heroes game without the superb music tracks is just not the same. Thanks again!

Maybe you should try to find the game from ebay?
Ask your friend if they perhaps deleted the mp3 files, or if they did not copy properly.

Sounds like your friend had a burned copy, perhaps. Maybe you could get someone from here to email you the tracks or whatever.
Possibly try reinstalling again. Sometimes this works, sometimes not.
Good luck.
I can't think of anywhere, where you could find the soundtracks to H3 on their own, sorry.

Thanks for the helful data! I'll certainly consider the idea buying from Ebay. Anyway, I asked my friend about it and she said she DID download the game from the net. But when she played it she claimed that it was ok, I mean the music was fine and everything. She did say that she had a tendancy to turn the music off (or mute it etc...).

Oh and thanks, I already know a site where you can dowload ton of game soundtracks, it also has the soundtracks from Heroes I to Heroes 5.
When I download the music/songs to my PC, can I put them in the game myself? Thanks again for the replies!

The tracks in the game must be in Mp3 format. If you want them to play in the game, name them accordingly and put them into the Mp3 directory.
