I like your idea SBlister,but the white tiger reminds  me of heroes 4(wich I hate).Why not try wolves instead.

It's fun how people can't think of any additions other than more factions. Warcraft/Starcraft are successful with only 3-4 races, which instead play very differently from each other and yet are much better balanced.

Think of it, which expansion is better,
HoF with barely anything more than a new faction, some new neutral creatures, maps, campaigns and caravans as the only notable new feature,
or
Tote, which does all that, expands the scripting functions, expands the existing factions with alternate upgrades, and a bunch of new features like a kingdom overview, a visible DE bar and tons of other new features?

Bottom-line, only adding Nagas wouldn't make the next heroes worth a full game in my book.

This is a suggestion only for the new factions. The old ones are still there, I just didn't feel it's necessary to reorganize them, since the major changes in the "formal" factions (Haven, Inferno, etc.) won't be in the line-ups.

Again, So much to respond to after a day at school.

The Cities of the East chould be the Tower. It is a race of Ancient Wizened Bird-Kind topped with the Garuda. I think i want to draw up some specs. (works with dilligent effort to make a brilliant faction).

Ooops i forget about teh Dragonkngighta but i wont psot them here, for a special reason.

Templars are Paladins.
I think that Heroes of Might and Magic lacks females...
And they fit into the storyline, King Andrei did almost destroy religion and Erina, his best friend and the most talented Cleric in the world, leds them.

I also liked Nightmares, but i needed to balance the town.
And Incubuses are male Succubuses, i cant see an female succubus get upgraded to an male incubus.
I never understood the creature called Familar, Guardien Imp is an real créature in folklore.

Well, the hero is named Ranger and the human shooter is called Hunter, so i had to take Archer.
Winged Nightmares in Sylvan? Thats sounds very strange.-
Those reants are small creatures and unicorns are large, i thougt it was more fitting.
And i almsot scrapped Treants from my list in the begining.

Beholders are about sight, not about brains.
???
So there weapons is too see people?

Skeletons are classic, since when was Vampires undead?
In the campaign the Werewolfs are allies of the Necropolis and their leader has only one quest, to kill the human king.

Academy.
Yeh, i had nothing planned to this town.

Well, it seems I don't really like this town. :-p

I think that Heroes of Might and Magic always lacked a town like this, and i hate the fortress faction.

Harpies = Female, Caladria = Male Priests = Same Race.

Shamans aren't level 1 creatures...
Why? There are lv1. Goblin Shamans.
I tried to not copy paste, like many others (the Weekly Faction Contest...).

Oh, and here are the orcs, i never found good names.

Okey, i give up.
I dont know much about Dungeons and Dragons but i thougt it was cool that H3 like Beholders destroy other peoples soul and mind with their eye rays.
I never heard about Winged Nightmares, and i already have 3 flyers in my Inferno (Imps, Efreets and Devils).
The Caladria thing is also about balance, i cant have 4 flyers in one faction and Caladrias looks like Harpies, so i made them the same race.
Well, i thougt that Incubus really desvered their own place, they can put female creatures into sleep or cast curses on them (when they are sleeping), but they also shoot fireballs.
The Succubus of Heroes 6 are offensive walkers, they use "chain-whips" in combat and can seduce males.

Edit: Yeh, i will probably change Manaeater to Familar.

How can something be genderless? Is a tree a male or female?

Now, I said if I made a Tower Faction, I'd post it here. So, Look for "Need Help on Some Aspects". Its me trying to complete the tower.

And i dont think that an demonic being with no physical body has an gender, i takes however other peoples bodies.
( My Succubus/Incubus have genders).

Oh, by saying Conflux you've sparked my interest. The Conflux could be the one true neutral in the whole game. Maybe wary against Academy due to their attempts to control them, but cool all the same. Werewolves, ehhh, I don't know. It might be a little too...B-Movie. I mean, sure as a creature, but not as a race.

I think all old towns (but Dungeon is controlled by Minotaurs and Faceless) + Naga, Swamp & Free Cities (these are dragonknights + surviving dark elfs).

Maybe i will change swamp with insectoids.
We shall see when i make a new Xerox HoMM6.
I didnt have much experience when I created my old.

Also i like my old suggestion, Mercenary Towns.

These towns would randmly appear in special places.
In the mercenary towns you can hire Tier 1, 3, 6 and 7 creatures.
These have no upgrades and cost a bit more

A mercenary town also works as a Sanctuary.

No one can control the mercenary towns.

So many good ideas! I think a aquatic town would be nice I have a lot of thoughts about what factions but not right off the top of my head right now but what are mawashees? I looked them up but nothing couldn't find any info.

I have my own idea of factions (not completed as yet).... and unit lists

The Castle (Human states)
Heroes:
- Knight (Might)
- Chaplain (Magic)
Citizen
- Spearman Pikeman / Halberdier
Footslogger Melee unit. push of pikes (i will give you an information of renaissance tactics)
- Harquebusier Musketeer (rapid fire, no melee penalty) / Rifleman (no obstacle penalty)
Shooter
- Gryphon Gryphon Hussar / Heavy Gryphon
Flyer
- Swordsman (shield allies) Gendarmerie (shield allies, can Stun opponents) / Landsknecht (attacks twice, shield allies) ..... tanker
- Monk Inquisitor (-1 morale to all enemy opponent) / Exorcist (200% extra damage against "evil" creatures)
Spellcaster: excels at buffing/ may heal allies
- Cavalier (jousting bonus) Lancer (jousting attack bonus, attacks any opponent on the way) / Dragoon* (mounted shooter with limited ammo/ jousting bonus when melee)
Mounted unit
- Angel Arch Angel / Fallen Angel
Flyer, Resurrection, Hates devil

Creeps (no citizen but loyal to the factions)
- Peasant
taxpayer, can be trained to better units via training grounds.

The Hideout (Human outlaws)
Heroes:
- Brigand (Might)
- Rogue Mage (Magic)
Citizen
- Brawler Rogue / Swabbie (piracy)
weak units, able to recieve future training
- Gunman Gangster / Buccaneer (piracy)
Shooter. uses rifle
- Scout Assassin / Wakou* (piracy)
semi cavalry, hit and run just like harpy. no enemy retaliation
- Fencer Swashbuckler/ Corsair (piracy)
Semi-tanker. attack first
- Gambler Cardcaptor / Fortuneteller (piracy)
Magician, exels at debuff
- Rough Rider Rough Raider / Vaulter (piracy)
Mounted unit
- Gunslinger Duelist / Pirate Captain (piracy)
Elite shooter. rapid fire. no melee penalty

Btw, concerning the entire topic... I feel there should never be used creatures that don't have a decent background in lore, primairily ancient greek lore and general fantasy lore.

Making a lot of factions is fun but, the more factions you make, the harder a time you will have to scrape the floors for finding: A) Something that sets them apart and makes them special, OTHER than a racial skill, and B) decent creatures.

Self-invented races or creatures honestly should never be used in heroes of Might and Magic.



Personally I feel there are some things that should NEVER be changed due to them defining a faction, such as Woodelves in Sylvan (rip them out, and you crush the whole sylvan concept).

Haven: Cavalry, Crusader-like knights, Archers.  Defining factors: Defense, Morale

Sylvan: Woodelves, Unicorns. Defining factors: Defense? Luck?

Academy: Golems, Mages, Genies, Titans. Defining factors: 3 shooters in lineup, many casters?

Dungeon: Minotaurs, Black Dragons. Definining factors: High spellpower, high costs.

Inferno: Imps, Cerberi, Devils. Defining factors: High offense, weak defense.

Necropolis: Skeletons, Vampires, Liches, Bone Dragons. Defining factors: High quantity, Morale breaking ?

Stronghold: Goblins, Orcs, Ogres, Cyclops. Defining factors: Attack, no magic.


Those are I feel the 7 key factions that should always be present in one way or another. Change it, and you ruin what Heroes of Might and Magic has build up so far. I firmly believe it was one reason why Heroes 4 was less favoured.

I may not be the most innovative person around, but I think if something is good, you don't change it again. You only perfect what was wrong with it.
