Still prefer a any Level Hero with about 10 Spell Power(I am not exiggent) and Expert Earth to cast mass slow.
It is not inside the battle but, Expert Dimension Door is great at Huge forces(actually is great any time  ), since you cant move your troops out of your castle or you will lose it, so the other player gets all the exp and artifacts on the map.
Now, serious, I think the best ones are Slow, Bless, Berseker, Bless and Prayer(mass of it gives +4 of speed, so you will certainly attack before your enemie, giving you a lot of advantage mainly with no-retaliation creatures like Vampires or Hydras.

Here are some spells to use on massive armies:
- On friendly armies use Mass Bless, Mass Prayer, Mass Shield, Mass Haste and Mass Weakness. I don't like Stone Skin much.
- On enemy army masses, use Mass Slow (my favourite!), Mass Curse, Mass Sorrow, Mass Weakness, and, if you have insane SP, use Chain Lightning.
