If you put it that way... I played with humans quite much (LAN/hotseat only, no online), but I did never find armorer much useful(without specialization of course). I said tactics is viable, but I just don't like it . If it had occured as you say, angelito, I could trade away air magic for tactics, but armorer? No way.

Artillery (always usefull to controll the towers and balistae)
Water magic (the best magic school)
Fire Magic (the second best magic school)
Wisdom (Gimme the magic)
Leaderschip (Or Expert mirth will do the trick )
Pathfinding OR logistics (whichever comse first)
Luck OR Air magic (Expert fortune = luckł)
Mysticism or Intelligence (Magical Supremacy)

My prefered skills most of the times are:
1. Tactics
2. Offence
3. Logistics
4. Earth
5. Armorer
6. Air
7. Pathfinding (if nececery)
8. Archery/leadership
9. Fire/water (if no pathfind)or rarely wisdom, depending on the sittuation.

My perfect skills would be :
1) Offence
2) Armor
3) Tactic
4) Earth
5) Air
6) Pathfinding
7) Logistics
8) Archery/Balistics
Combine this with Craig and it will rock hehe.90% of the time my main is always a barbarian, so with that in mind i feel the aboce skills cmplement me perfectly. BAlistics in most cases i would have. With their attack power, balistics can be very deadly.Archery and baloistics together in my veiw is a good combo.

Dev - you get logistic at 7-th skill? Thats like the end of the game. So whats the point of the logistic then?

lol a bit rusty im sry to both liophy and dirk, yes artillery and i did write is as in what 8 skills i would love to have, not what order, in order i would love to have:
1)Offense
2)Earth
3)Logistics
4)Tactics
5)Armor
6)Artillery
7)Pathfinding
8)Air

Why would you take artillery ? How much damage can your balista do ?
I mean for your main hero, for which castle defense is not a target I think.
I have seen many people mentioning artillery and I am curios what do you do with it ?

well i choose artilery as a skill only when considering barbs owning it and as i said 90% of my games a barb is main, with their bonus to attack, even without archery to support it, it can easily take out even lvl 7 units at a later stage, even in a main fight if the opponent does not focus on ur balista, it can do great damage plus helps u not automaticaly attack something which u have blinded, better yet your opponent will waste a spell or a unit's movement to take it out which all counts at the end. It can also be used to clear out alot of the map early on and 250 hp helps it to take a bit of damage.

Your race, hero and map is the most important thing choose the skills but i think 7 Skills is important for all type heroes (I said these which are not banned!!)
Wisdom
Offense
Armorer
Logistics
Diplomacy
Earth Magic
Tactics
and the other is
One magic skill (Water or Air)
Archery (Tower, Dungeon)
Pathfinding and Navigation (Map type??)
Necromancer (Necropolis) - Leadership (Knight)
Ballistics or Artillery (Stronghold)
Intelligence (if u choose magic hero)
but i think if hero not Necromancer - Death Knight or Knight i choose Water Magic or Archery or Pathfinding.

I believe the skills one cannot do without and always take are:
Earth
Offence
Wisdom (even if only for the town portal )
Highly useful are:
tactics
logistics (I can actually do quite well without this skill, I was using voy, and boots and gloves gave me in the end full green bar movement with 2 pluses)
Armourer (getting double damage from towers is always nice If you're stronghold with exp air mass hate, armourer probably wouldn't be a "definite need" skill, otherwise, yes. Definitely take armourer)
Air (mass haste, fly, DD :S air and earth are so imba ^^)
Water (bless is good. so is cure. teleport works wonders too)
Artillery
Moderately useful skills:
Pathfinding (map specific, damn useful in some, useless in others)
Ballistics (sieging a tower army without this skill is often VERY VERY annoying, they hole themselves up and shoot away at you =.=)
Fire (is it possible to get Adrienne in a normal map?)
Archery (town specific. will pick if using tower army)
